Chapter Text
Positive.
For the first time in her life, Wednesday had cried tears of joy mixed with tears of sorrow while her long-time boyfriend, the school's tortured artist Xavier Thorpe, held her on the bathroom floor of her dorm room. While most would be shocked at the sight, the girl could appreciate how her boyfriend always took into account how delicate her emotions were. That was at least one silver lining to this story.
After awhile of that, Xavier had somehow moved the pair to sit on Wednesdays monochromatic black and grey bed, seating her into his lap with her back pressing into his chest area. This position-while one that was loath-worthy in the eyes of the 'psychopath'-had always managed to make the girl feel protected and secured. Like no outside trouble could harm her in anyway.
However there was still a pressing issue: the baby growing inside of her uterus. "Our morsel is staying on earth." She suddenly spoke up, surprising Xavier with her swift movements and speech. For a moment, she assumed he would disagree and explain how they were far too young to raise a baby. Also the factor that Nevermore isn’t really the correct institution to raise a child with someone.
But he didn’t. “Okay. Want me to get some cash from my dad to cover the ultrasound appointments, prenatal vitamins, equipment, and other little things?” The way Xavier worded it gave her the chills. In the good way. He was making it seem like they were a married couple welcoming their first ever baby into the world for all to see and admire. Well—for most to see and admire.
After this, the two had a very long conversation about both being present in this child’s life, even if they broke up. Neither Xavier nor Wednesday could just up and vanish, leaving the other to take care of him or her. They also talked about having to bring it up to Weems and the possibility that they might start rooming with one another. That last part, neither quite minded.
So that’s what they did, the talked to principal Weems. Of course she was at first stunned to learn those on her student body were partaking in such dangerous activities, but then she eventually got over herself and started talking to the teenagers seriously. “If you’re choosing to keep that baby, I wish you stay here until the latter part of the pregnancy. Both of you.”
”Once the baby is born, I will allow you to bring him or her here as long as you are both responsible enough to look after her during your classes or find a babysitter. This is terribly serious, and I hope you know that it will never be easy. Not during the first trimester, not during the second trimester, and definitely not towards the third. Don’t make me regret my decision, you both.”
”As for the rooming situation, I will allow you both to move in as late as the day after tomorrow. After you take your break and come back, you two will permanently be roommates until you graduate and move on to bigger and better things. Along with that roommate situation, it’s best if you both notify each of your roommates during the lunch quarter. Now you are dismissed.” Larissa spoke.
Walking down the steps to the quad wasn’t tense per-se, but Wednesday was definitely dealing with a heavy lot of emotions that she didn’t quite know how to handle. So when she tightened her grip on his hand, he knew that she was overwhelmed. “You don’t have to talk if you don’t want. We could call a Nightshade’s meeting and talk to them then if you please.” The artist suggested.
But Wednesday wasn’t going to let something as trivial as a couple of feelings stop her from telling Enid and their other friends about their, as some call it, bundle of joy. “I’ll be fine. More surprise for Bianca, Divina, Kent, and Yoko that way.” “Ahh, leave the half friend half enemies out of the know. Sneaky.” He joked, getting her to smile before she pulled him towards their normal seating table.
Once they did get there, Enid, Ajax, Eugene, Rowan, and Tyler looked at them suspiciously which was random to say the least. Despite that, no one at the table dared to speak up first until Xavier did. Weird. “I have no idea why you guys are looking at us like that, but me and Wens have some news for you.” At the mention of the nickname, the sides of her lips flared up.
There was nothing more special than the man she loves—and was about to have a child with—having a nickname only he could call her. “Me and Xavier are having a child.” She bluntly spoke, noticing the evident shift in some of their faces. “So that’s why you frantically ran off with him earlier.” Enid said, acting as if the biggest realization came over her.
”For a second we thought you two like got married or were trying to uncover another murder mystery.” Tyler spoke, knowing full well how ironic that sentence was coming from him. While he has his moment, the once-normie has gotten himself under control. “That’s why principal Weems said you had something to tell us. More specifically your roommates.”
With Eugene opening the floodgates, the group of friends started going over everything that will be happening for the next 9 months. But the whole time, Wednesday only felt one emotion that she would normally find disgusting. Joy. Joy in the admiration in Xavier’s eyes whenever he spoke about her or their child. Joy about their friends being supportive. And joy about becoming a mother.
There was also Joy in the world she was about to live. She was about to become a parent (along with Xavier) to a child she can love and care for. Perhaps she was very similar to her mother, but Wednesday also knew that her child would defy all odds. Especially when she has Xavier helping her raise the baby.
