    Izuku wakes up from a nightmare, and does his best to comfort himself, to hold himself together until his Dad gets home.
    It works, to a degree, but the world is still so much better with his Ai-tou back in it, at his side, pressing his warmth and weight to Izuku's side.

    He doesn't think much more before traipsing into Ai-tou's room, grabbing one of the blankets, folds it clumsily in half twice (his fingers can't stay steady, and he's still more than a little bit asleep, shadows clinging to the edge of his vision, to his ankles and wrists and ribs-), and promptly drapes it around his shoulders like a cape.

    The lingering adrenaline begins to run out by the time he's gotten to the front door, keys in hand, and leaves their flat.

    Ai-tou stares at him then, analysing, assessing, but never unkind. Finally though, he just tips to the side, feet twisting beneath him, until he's pressed shoulder to shoulder with Izuku, all warmth and weight and steady breathing. He's just there.

    Izuku adores him for it.

    At five, he’d been so lonely that he’d concocted an imaginary quirk that let him create fog and even clouds when the hot sun became too oppressive at Dad's summer estate. Sue him, he’d had a meteorology phase too.

    At twelve, he could explain the longing that defined his childhood fantasies.

    At thirteen, he desperately clung to the words his Father whispered into his ears that summer before he had become too busy for his quirkless son.

    But at fourteen, when he awoke panting with One For All crackling at his fingertips, he could not explain the low hanging fog, no clouds, that covered his bedroom.

    It was a simple raid, take down the villains, collect the information. It consisted of all the top 20 pro heroes (plus the unofficial number one of the underground, Eareserhead! Keigo thought he was really cool and respected the work he did.), hence why Keigo was there.

    The three heroes halted to a stop and looked down? To the voice. It was a kid with large, jet-black wings and matching spots around the collarbone area in places the torn white t-shirt showed. The child’s ( fledgling ) fingers faded into murky black talon sort of an elongated form of nails. (Just like Keigo.) Their hair was curly and green and their eyes were heterochromic, one was a normal acidic green and the other’s eye whites were a black akin to their claws.

    Settling back against his pillows, Izuku relaxes, his time is up, he’s done being the punchline of the greatest of all jokes. He’s at peace, closing his eyes, as his body slowly shuts down. He’s left something to remember and is leaving no regrets.

If he chickened out, Iida would remind him of the note’s existence (because there was no way Iida wouldn’t do that) and then it would be awkward because Izuku would have to explain he hadn’t forgotten, he was just avoiding it. And Izuku was already awkward enough as it was without adding to it.

    Izuku read the inside of the note.

    He blinked.

    He blinked again.

    “Midoriya-kun?” Iida asked. “Is everything alright? Your face looks—”

    Numbly, Izuku showed him the note.

    There was a moment of silence, and then there were two moments of silence, and then Iida said, “It is unsigned.”

    Izuku flipped the note back around, looking at it again as if he expected the words to have changed in the time Iida had been reading it. Honestly, Izuku would have been less shocked if they had, because, well…
