Virgil knew, rationally, that it was illogical to worry about the plane crashing. After all, one is far more likely to get in a car accident than a plane crash.
But his anxiety had never harbored much care for logic.
Patton gently held his shaking hand as they waited for takeoff, providing a small balm to his fear.
He wasn't sure he'd ever truly understand Patton's patience with him, but he deeply appreciated it nonetheless.
