I love how it started, with them trying to figure things out, test their limits. The not wanting to share that they now purr because ARC trooper image 😂
I really enjoyed Echo's perspective re consuming Oz's blood, because you really nailed Echo's personality there. Also, loved that you included the mirror twins and Echo coming in with the joke!
Having Kix throughout was a wonderful choice, and I loved how they gained Jesse on their Echo-hunt (and Jesse loving being carried by Fives).
Anakin being like, we should try this, and Echo going into some manic chaotic frenzy and sticking googly eyes on everyone (and I adore a bit of mischievous boot swapping). Fives being unhelpful and giggling throughout. The note! The posters and that glimpse of poor Dogma.
Rex being so very done. Suggesting that they just order Echo to the bridge. And him and Echo performing their little dance around regulations and rules 😂
Anakin just going for it with the cuffs - these boys do not think things through 😂 stunners to sleep...
I just scrolled back up and I keep remembering more amazing moments - can I just copy and paste the entire chapter in this box please and cover it in highlighter? 🤣
whenever i write vampires, i start from the beginning. i will never fall back on short hand; just because the audience knows the rules is no excuse, so of course the characters must learn the rules for themselves. and i tweak the rules for the setting anyway. these vampires purr. why? maybe if they'd brought it up they'd find out.
i love getting into Echo's head. there's just so much going on there. and just like Fives, i like watching a reserved character give in to their desires.
i had so much fun with this chapter. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Echo running amok was a last minute addition that turned into a full half of the chapter. it was a lot of fun to think up pranks that Echo would pull; they had to be clever, but could not interfere with the functioning of the ship, crew or soldiers. and we haven't even seen everything he got up to yet.
kix was the obvious choice for witness, he's just so done. he loves them, he does, but jesus christ, he wishes they would chill.
Jesse one the other hand, is getting some unwise ideas himself, and that will give us a chance to see a whole other side of Kix soon.
anakin is such a disaster. he's a walking string of red flags which nobody calls out because they're kind of funny. whenever i need something stupid to happen, i just throw him at the problem.
rex is absolutely the keeper of the single braincell and the primary strategic mind behind the 501st (with Echo of course). skywalker has never impressed me with his plans, he mostly brute forces problems, and when he's a little clever, it's Rex that makes the idea work. hence Echo being able to bait him into a merry chase around the Resolute. this whole scene is kind of my way of expressing that on a small scale. so of course rex has to refrain from calling his general a moron, and tactfully suggest the solution. it's the story of his life.
you can absolutely paste the whole chapter and highlight it. I'd read it all. but you've given me more than enough life with this wonderful comment. see you next chapter!
