Thank you so much. I didn't really like an AU; as you say, weird magic hits Ankh-Morpork enough it doesn't need to be! I'm pleased you thought the dwarf gender thing was clever, as it mostly felt like an awkward workaround when I wrote it. I was very pleased with myself for the harvest mouse idea, I must admit.
