                    Does he have anyone to protect him now that itama is gone? Doesn't seem like kawa or Hashi care much about shielding him from the dark part of their world

                          well they do send 'them' out young but!

                          there's also family dynamics playing into this.

                          the oldest always gets to do things first, and usually young, but the youngest - well, he's a BABY, no matter how talented. the others can do xyz at the best quality, why send a BABY out to do it? better to keep the baby at home , keep baby safe and let the older ones do it...

                          It's a big family thing - when you have enough siblings - like with my own siblings, the older ones always had to do xyz chores, but by the time my youngest sib was the age we were, well, it wasn't necessary to LET him do it, or even MAKe him do it. just let him be, he's the youngest after all~

                              hahaha i have four siblings - one older and three youngerr. the youngest one is like 5 years younger than me. when time came for him to start doing the chores we had done at his age - well, he didn't want to, and we'd sigh and just pick up the slack and our mother didn't bother trying to force him to.

                              Soooooo i'm using a little of THAT - with an exaggerated age difference of course. :)

                              baby tobira is VERY MUCH Younger than Hashirama - he's literally 13 years younger than Hashi here. as talented a baby tobira is, he is STILL a baby to Hashirama, who would have been an active field shinobi for almost a decade compared to Tobira.

                              Hashirama most definitely would not push for his BABY brother to go to the field

                              and Butsuma probably is utterly heartbroken at the loss of Itama - he does not want to put his Absolute Baby in the field either.
