Comment on the taste of dried-up hopes

  1. Good good good good yes I like. I like so very much. The first part has just that bit of sad carried over from the last chapter, with Aziraphale trying not to get his hopes up, thinking Crowley must not be coming for him at all, and then you're tossed into the realization, the puzzle pieces falling into place moment, and it's all wonderful. Then the invite inside, and Aziraphale taking care of Crowley, and then they talk, and they say, without saying it, that they both want this, and they want to spend this time together. And then...Crowley falls asleep? And Aziraphale tucks him in? That is so adorable goodness gracious!

impossible to mistake for anything but what it really is: a declaration, so loud and clear that even Aziraphale's doubting heart can't mistake it.
YES FINALLY THE MESSAGE CAME THROUGH PROPERLY. Now we just have to make sure Aziraphale's copy of the message reaches its destination with Crowley.

    1. There was a really excellent meta I read that pointed out that neither Aziraphale nor Crowley live in a world in which forgiveness is really... a thing. It's very much a "one strike you're out". Crowley Fell, and Hell has no mercy or understanding. Heaven does not forgive, at least not its angels, if they dare to step out of line. Aziraphale had every reason to think that it was over between him and Crowley. But of course, Crowley will always come for Aziraphale. <3

I loved finally getting a chance to write a nice foot-washing post-church care scene for these two, and Aziraphale carefully tending to Crowley. <3 Poor demon is so reckless and doesn't take care of himself, gotta gently bully him into accepting help.

      1. Oh yess, that meta is really interesting! And it's so wonderful to explore them turning those expectations sideways for each other.
