   Summary

   The Legion has secured victory at Hoover Dam and the Courier, despite her contributions, has been enslaved.
   As she plots her escape, she finds herself entangled in a mess at the Fort. Caesar is dying, the slaves are restless, and Legate Lanius is eager to carry out her execution.
   But Vulpes Inculta, leader of the frumentarii, finds her too useful - and too fascinating - to be disposed of.

   The attraction, unfortunately, is mutual - which only further complicates things.
