Chapter 1: Adopt

Chapter Text

"I really don't think this is a good idea guys," Suho said, running one of his hands through his hair as he talked to his best friends Kyungsoo and Kai in his living room.

"Come on Suho! We can't adopt him because we have Sehun and Tao plus we can't support him financially” Kai explained.

"I told you already, I may have the money to support him but I don't know how to take care of a hybrid. I hardly take care of myself when I get too busy" Suho replied, trying to convince them why he couldn't adopt the hybrid.

Rolling his eyes, Kai pouted and Kyungsoo sighed.

"Look Suho, think about it from a different perspective. If you adopt him, then you'll learn how to take care of a hybrid with our help. On the other hand, Yixing will get a new home and an owner who can love him and take good care of him" Kyungsoo said and Suho thought for a few minutes before nodding.

"Is that a yes, like you'll adopt him?" Kai asked excitedly. "I'm saying yes. But y'all better help me" Suho replied sternly, with them nodding in response.

"Thank you Suho. Yixing will be happy to hear it" Kyungsoo said as they got up to leave.

"Wait, what kind of hybrid is he?" Suho asked curiously. Kai smiled, shrugged, as he shook his head. "You'll have to wait and see tomorrow" he replied before they left.

Suho shook his head at his friends’ behavior but decided to finish up the chores he had to do for today before the weekend was over.

Suho folded all of his clothes from when he did laundry earlier.

Then he did some research about hybrids and the basics of how to take care of them before he stopped reading to do his homework that was due the next day.

Afterward, Suho took a shower and fell asleep reading another article about hybrids.

Chapter 2: Nice to Meet You

Summary:

Suho and Lay meet

Kyungsoo and Kai also are little shits lol

Chapter Text

Suho woke up to the sound of banging on his front door. He groaned, reaching over to check his phone for the time.

As much as he wanted to roll over in his bed and continue sleeping, he knew he had to get the door.

Getting up, he grabbed a sweater pulling it on before going downstairs to the front door.

After the conversation with his friends yesterday, Suho did as much research about hybrids but felt underprepared. He was worried.

He opened the door seeing Kyungsoo and a guy standing next to him with a beanie, whose cheeks flushed when they made eye contact.

"Morning Suho. I know it's early" Kyungsoo said apologetically and Suho waved him off even though he was exhausted as he let them in.

"Where's Kai?" he asked as they sat on the couch with him in the opposite one across. "He went to run a few errands," Kyungsoo answered.

It was silent after that and it made the room feel smaller. Suho hated it but wasn’t sure how to start.
Thankfully, Kyungsoo got the hint.

"Lay, this is our friend Suho. He’s the one who offered to adopt you” Kyungsoo explained and Suho stopped himself from rolling his eyes at his friend knowing the truth of the matter.

“Suho, this is Lay. The hybrid we talked about"
Kyungsoo said, introducing them to each other.

Neither said anything or moved, making Kyungsoo roll his eyes. He got up and walked over to Suho.

“Get your ass up and go talk to him. Do you know how hard it was to drag him out of his room since he's painfully shy? Kyungsoo whispered, pulling him up from his seat.

"I'm going to get some food, so why don't you two get to know each other while I’m gone?" Kyungsoo suggested, grabbing his keys and was out the door before either could protest.

Taking a breath to soothe his nerves, Suho sat down on the couch a couple of feet from Lay.

He was thinking about what to say when he heard Lay mumble something though it was quite soft.

"Would you mind repeating what you said please? I know this is awkward and we were abandoned" Suho replied, loud enough to be heard but soft enough so he wouldn't frighten the other.

Lay’s mouth quirked up into a shy smile at Suho’s statement but stayed quiet.

Suho waited patiently for Lay but it amped up his anxiety.

"I. It’s nice to meet you" Lay replied quietly making eye contact and Suho had to lean over a bit to hear him.

'Adorable' was all Suho could think as he looked at Lay. "Is there something on my f-face?" Lay asked.

Shaking his head Suho felt his face get warm. "N-not at all. I was thinking" Suho replied.

A question popped up in Suho's mind as he remembered what Kai said yesterday.

“If you don't mind answering, what kind of hybrid are you? They wouldn't tell me yesterday" Suho asked.

Lay gave a questioning glance.

"Really? They act so weird sometimes. I’ll just show you" he replied.

Suho watched as Lay removed his beanie showing a pair of dark brown rabbit ears.

"Say something Suho" Suho thought in his mind because all he did was stare.

"A rabbit?. That’s cool" Suho said and Lay nodded.

"How old are you Lay?" Suho asked. "Twenty," he said and Suho was surprised.

"You're twenty! You look younger than that and we are closer in age than I thought because I'm twenty-three" Suho replied shocked and Lay giggled at Suho's reaction.

Suho really thought the boy was quite cute even though he was shy.

They continued talking for a while with mainly Suho asking questions when Kyungsoo and Kai walked in with food and two suitcases.

"I see you two are getting along fine. See babe? I told you everything would be fine" Kai said.

Kyungsoo shook his head, continuing his walk to the kitchen with the food.

Kai sat on Lay's other side on the sofa and began petting his head causing Lay to yawn and lean against the older sleepily.

"Well. How was it?" Kai asked Suho.

"We talked a bit. He’s really sweet. You two are the absolute worst by the way. You two didn't tell me how to start the conversation” Suho huffed and Kai chuckled.

“Sorry. We probably should have mentioned it. It'll take some getting used to for him and you but eventually a routine will start. And this on the table is a list of a few things he likes and dislikes. And we were told that he has nightmares sometimes too" Kai finished explaining as Kyungsoo walked in from the kitchen with three bowls of food.

"He's asleep, isn't he? Luhan and Minseok told me that he has had nightmares for the last two nights so he hasn't been sleeping well” Kyungsoo said, wrapping the third bowl up to put away later.

“Also Suho I heard what Kai said and we will help you when you need us but the best advice we can give is that you have to learn from experience and mistakes" he said passing out the food.

Kai gently moved Lay into Suho's lap before getting up with a smug smile and sitting by Kyungsoo on the opposite chair.

Suho stopped eating when Kai put Lay in his lap. “Kai!” he whispered l, stiffening when Lay shifted and cuddled into his stomach.

Suho glared at Kai who returned it with an innocent one.

"He's a big cuddler. You should take him to bed though. Do you have classes tomorrow?" Kyungsoo said with a amused smile.

Suho wondered how he can get new best friends.
Suho nodded in response to the question.

"I have two but I have to leave early since my first one starts at 8:00 in the morning," Suho replied, placing his empty bowl down.

"We have to get ready to go but it would be best to tell him your daily schedule especially if he's going to be home alone. Maybe you can bring him to work with you at the library" Kai replied.

Suho nodded, waving from the front door as they left after telling him a few more things.

Suho rubbed his eyes tired as he checked the time and saw it was 10:30 in the evening. He put the food Kyungsoo wrapped up in the fridge.

He picked Lay up gently and carried him to the guest room, placing him on the bed.

He covered him with the blanket and quietly moved his suitcases that Kai brought to the room, before leaving.

Yawning, he changed clothes and he went to bed after going through his schedule and getting his things ready for tomorrow.

He fell asleep thinking about the young hybrid.

Chapter 4: First Day

Summary:

Suho and Lay are slowly getting used to each other

Chapter Text

Lay woke up early the next morning.

It was quiet in the apartment. He stretched a little and moved to get up to look for the bathroom.

Walking out of his room, he remembered what Kyungsoo said to him the day before he met Suho as he and Kai helped pack up his stuff.

"Our friend has never taken care of a hybrid before so he's pretty new at this. He's a college student like me and Kai. Just remember, both of you are going to be awkward so be yourself"

What brought him back from his thoughts was the fact that he still had to go to the bathroom and that he didn't know where it was.

He couldn't find it and wondered if he should go find Suho though he didn’t want to bother the older.

He turned around startled, when a hand touched his shoulder.

He relaxed when he saw Suho.

"G-good morning," Lay said and Suho gave a smile.

"Good Morning Lay. Did you need something?" Suho asked.

Lay nodded but seemed embarrassed to ask.

It didn't take Suho long to figure out what Lay wanted by observing his movements when he didn't say anything.

"You're looking for the bathroom?" Suho asked, chuckling when Lay quickly nodded.

Suho gestured for Lay to follow him and he walked towards the bathroom.

On the way, he explained where his room and the kitchen were.

Lay nodded listening attentively, though it was a lot of information to remember.

"This is the bathroom and I will be in the kitchen if you need me," Suho said walking off.

Lay went to the bathroom and when he was finished, he walked towards the kitchen.

When he found it, he poked his head through the door and saw Suho chopping something.

'Whatever he's cooking smells good' Lay thought.

Lay didn't hate a lot of things nor was he allergic but he didn't like lentils for some reason.

He loved carrots obviously since he was a rabbit.

"You need something, Lay?" Suho asked, dragging the hybrid from his thoughts.

Lay shook his head walking in to sit when Suho gestured for him to come in.

"Don't be scared if you need anything, just ask. Also, you can walk anywhere as well since you do live here too" he said and he nodded.

"Hungry? I just finished breakfast" Suho said and Lay nodded looking down embarrassed when his stomach made a noise.

Suho smiled, bringing two plates to the table.

Suho grabbed a glass of water for himself and a cup of orange juice for Lay (per the list Kai gave him).

"Thank you," Lay said and Suho gave him a smile.

They began eating and Lay really enjoyed breakfast.
It was very delicious to him and Suho thought it was cute when he asked for seconds.

When they were done, Suho told Lay to wait in the living room while he cleaned up.

Lay didn't want to because he didn't want to leave all the work to Suho but he did it anyway.

Lay sat down on the couch and waited for Suho.

He looked around the house and observed the different decorations and pictures on the wall.

He got up when a particular picture got his attention.

It was a picture of Suho, Kai, and Kyungsoo.

Suho had blonde hair then and he thought it looked good on him then.

"You found that picture. It was when we were in high school" Suho said, rubbing his head a bit embarrassed and Lay continued looking at the picture.

"It looked nice on you" Lay replied and felt his face get warm when he realized what he said.

"Thanks. I lost a bet and ended up liking that color once I got it. There are a few things I need to explain to you so let's sit" Suho said.

Lay took a breath, nervous as they sat down.

"It's nothing bad. I just wanted to set some ground rules and let you know about my weekly schedule" Suho assured.

"The rules are quite simple. First and most important, if you need anything call me. If you can't reach me then call Kyungsoo or Kai. Second, when I'm not here, do not answer the door unless it's Kyungsoo or Kai unless I say otherwise" he explained.

"Are those the only two?" Lay asked.

Suho nodded before checking his watch.

"Okay, I have to get ready for my classes but I'll be back in a bit," Suho said and Lay nodded.

While waiting Lay went and changed into a t-shirt instead of his sweater before going back to the living room.

When he got there, Suho was already in there and was doing something with his backpack.

"Come here for a second Lay," Suho said as he pulled out a piece of paper.

Lay walked over and looked confused when Suho gave him the paper.

"What’s this?" He asked.

"It's my weekly schedule. I have classes every day and work as well. I usually get home around 6:30 but it depends so I'll call and let you know if I’m late. I'll see you later when I get home okay?" Suho said, giving a smile.

Lay nodded, returning the smile with one of his own.

After writing down the numbers necessary to call, Suho left for class and Lay was alone.

It was early and Lay was still a bit tired so he decided to take a nap.

Chapter 5: First Day Pt. 2

Summary:

Just a continuation of the first day of Suho and Lay adding in chaos from Kyungsoo, Kai and Chen lol

Chapter Text

Suho on the other hand, made it to class a few minutes before it started since he left the house later than he intended since he explained everything to Lay.

"Where were you?" Kyungsoo asked.

"I was explaining things to Lay and I also made breakfast this morning. I was trying to make it less awkward" Suho explained and Kyungsoo nodded.

“I actually got here before you Suho” Kai said happily and the other two rolled their eyes.

"That's good Suho. Lay has common sense. It’s just, how would you say it, babe?" Kyungsoo said.

"He's super shy and soft spoken. He also never had his first heat" Kai said bluntly and Suho’s cheeks felt hot.

"Don't be so blunt Nini! It's true that he hasn't had his first 'heat' though he uses hormone regulating patches” Kyungsoo replied.

“Is there a reason for that?” Suho questioned. Kyungsoo shook his head.

“Not particularly. Most hybrids have their first heat typically around age 17 but some are late bloomers” he explained.

“Yeah. Tao didn’t have his first one until a few months ago and he just turned 19” Kai added.

“Another thing is that he also doesn't have a phone. You should consider getting him one even though you do have a home phone" Kyungsoo explained and Suho silently agreed.

"Did you leave anything for Lay to eat for later?" Kai asked.

"Yeah. I don't really know what he likes so I made kimchi with rice. I don't want to leave him alone for too long so I may get Chen to take the rest of my shift for tonight" Suho answered, mumbling the end of his statement to himself.

“He’s not a picky eater and seems like he’s growing on you Suho” Kyungsoo remarked and Suho shrugged, though his lips quirked up into a small smile.

“A little” was his reply as class started.

Around 4:55pm

Suho was ready to leave his job at the library. He loved his coworkers and the library itself but he couldn't stop thinking about Lay.

He even went out after class and bought him a new hoodie and an iPhone that he set up while it was slow.

"Go home" his coworker and close friend Chen told him as he was putting donated books in the computer system, bringing Suho from his thoughts.

"But-" "No buts. Kyungsoo told me that you might ask and I have hours to make up anyway. Besides, you haven't been focused the whole time you've been here. So leave” Chen noted, cutting him off.

Grabbing his things, Suho thanked Chen on his way out the door.

On the way home, he saw the storm through his window as it had begun raining and thundering roughly. He was almost home when his phone started ringing.

"Hello?" "S-suho" "Lay, what is it? What's the matter?" Suho asked with concern in his voice.

"Lights are out. I-it's dark and s-scary " Lay got out before the phone clicked off.

Worried, he drove a bit faster and quickly pulled into his parking lot.

Running to the apartment, he unlocked it and rushed in.

"Lay? where are you?" Suho said loud enough so he wouldn't frighten him as he looked around.

He tried a few light switches and realized that it was a blackout.

He turned on his flashlight from his phone as he continued to look.

Then he heard soft crying and sniffles coming from his room.

He walked in and saw some movement from a corner in the room by his closet.

"Lay?" Suho called, a surpised squeal coming out his mouth as he fell back from Lay's weight when Lay jumped into his arms.

Suho felt the younger’s whole body shaking as he cried.

"It's alright. I got you and everything will be fine" Suho assured as one hand ran through Lay's hair soothingly and the other on his back to hold him up.

Lay calmed down and soon fell asleep on Suho's lap.

He checked the time and saw it was 7:30.

He yawned and picked up Lay to move him to his bed.

Suho put Lay on the bed and covered him up with the blanket.

As he was about to head to the Lay's room to sleep, his sleeve was grabbed. Suho turned and saw Lay looking at him with sleepy eyes.

"Stay?" He asked and Suho nodded.

" Just let me change alright?" Suho replied and Lay nodded, letting go.

Suho grabbed pajamas and changed in the bathroom.

Lay immediately cuddled into Suho when he laid down and it made him chuckle quietly.

"Go to sleep, Lay. I'll be right here" Suho mumbled rubbing Lay's back and soon enough he was asleep.

Suho fell to sleep not too long after.

Summary:

The day after the storm

Lay gets a surprise from Suho

Some cute texts 🤭

Chapter Text

When Lay woke up the next morning, he was alone.

Stretching he heard a crinkling noise and looked. Under his hand was a plastic bag with a note attached to it.

Pulling off the note, Lay saw it was from Suho.

"Sorry I wasn't here. I had work at 7 and class at 2. I left you breakfast in the kitchen wrapped up. I also got you something so check the bag after you finish reading. I'll see you when I get home. If you need anything, call me or Kyungsoo." -Suho

Lay felt a smile grow on his face as he read the note. Putting the note down, he opened the bag and he was surprised but also pleased.

Inside was a baby blue hoodie. On top was an iPhone in blue phone case on it.

Lay was happy as he looked at the phone. He already knew how to work one but he never had his own.

He put everything down and took a shower. Then he got dressed and put on his new hoodie with some shorts.

He grabbed his new phone and went to the kitchen to eat breakfast that Suho made.

As he ate, he got a message from an unknown number.

From Unknown:

Morning! It's Suho and I just wanted to check on you.

To Suho hyung:

Everything is fine. I love the hoodie and thanks for my new phone.

From Suho hyung:

I'm glad! I will be home around 4 so I'll see you then :)

To Suho hyung:

:) okay

Lay finished breakfast and washed the dishes. Then he went into the living room and decided to watch tv for the time being.

Chapter 7

Summary:

Kai & Suho talk about how Lay and Suho are doing

SuLay preciousness

That is all :)

Chapter Text

"How's everything going with Lay?" Kai asked Suho as they walked from class to the parking lot.

"It's going well. Since I had to leave early this morning, I left the hoodie I got him and the phone after I fixed breakfast” Suho replied.

“The hoodie is a baby blue and the phone I picked out kind of matched it. I picked blue but I didn't know what his favorite color was" he explained.

Kai started laughing and Suho looked at him with a confused look.

"His favorite color is baby blue.” he answered.

“Oh”

“What are you going to do about work?”

"I talked to Chanyeol and he said I could bring Lay with me to work today but I have to watch him," Suho replied as they made it to their cars.

"Well I'm glad you two are getting along. See you Suho" Kai said and they parted ways.

_____________________________________

When Suho made it home, he put his stuff down and was about to call Lay when he saw him on the couch asleep.

He smiled softly, seeing that Lay was wearing his new hoodie.

Suho put the pizza he bought down in the kitchen and he went to change.

He took out his contacts and he changed into some sweats and a T-shirt.

He put his glasses on and headed back to the living room.

When he walked in, Lay was awake and rubbing his eyes.

"Hey" Suho said and Lay turned, giving a small one back.

"Hi. T-thanks for the hoodie. I really liked it" Lay said.

"Your welcome. I bought pizza. Pepperoni I believe."

"I love pizza!"

Lay blushed at his outburst and Suho chuckled at the action.

Suho told Lay to follow him to the kitchen as they grabbed some pizza before going back to the living room to watch tv.

As they ate, Suho watched Lay and couldn't help but stare.

'He may be innocent and a tad naive, but he's attractive' Suho thought looking at Lay's face structure.

He also noticed how when Lay smiles, that he has dimples.

"You okay?" Suho heard and just noticed that Lay was right in front of his face.

"F-fine" he replied, trying not to focus on how beautiful Lay's eyes were.

They were a dark brown with gold like specks in them.

Lay gave a sweet smile and sat back down, continuing to eat. 'Stop thinking like this. Lay is cute but I can’t do this’ Suho thought in his head.

Suho sighed and eventually finished his food.

timeskip!

"Hey Lay, can you come here for a second?" Suho said from the kitchen as he washed the dishes they used.

"Yes?" Lay replied, poking his head in the doorway.

"I have to go to work at 7 tonight and I won't be back until after 10:00. But I didn't want to leave you by yourself all that time so do you want to come?" Suho asked, turning around as he finished drying his hands.

 "Where do you work again?"

"I work in the local library. You don't have to come though" Suho answered.

"I'll go" Lay replied  cutting Suho off as he gave a small smile.

"Get ready then and we'll leave in few minutes" Suho said, chuckling as Lay took off out of the kitchen.

"He's so fucking cute" Suho mumbled  as he went to get ready for work.

Chapter 8

Summary:

Suho and Lay head to the library!

Lay meets Chanyeol and Baekhyun.

Just fluff all way around

Chapter Text

Suho and Lay left the home after they were ready and once Suho made sure everything was off and locked up.

The drive to the library wasn't very long and it was about a 5-7 minute drive.

When they made it, Suho brought Lay in through the backdoor of the library.

Suho was about to walk towards the employee room when the edge of his shirt sleeve was tugged.

He stopped.

Looking back at Lay, he turned around with worry in his eyes as Lay gave off nervous energy.

"What's the matter?" Suho asked.

“Are you sure I can be back here?" Lay asked hesitantly.

Suho smiled softly, reaching up to ruffle Lay’s hair.

“Absolutely. My supervisor said I could bring you if I had too. And all of my coworkers are super nice and have been excited to meet you" Suho replied.

“If you say so” Lay said.

”I know so. Besides I’ll be right here" Suho said gently as he grabbed Lay's hand to pull him on.

Lay was a bit thrown off when Suho grabbed his hand but it didn't bother him and noticed that Suho's hand was soft, and warm.

He’s gonna hate when he has to let go.

Suho made a stop to the break room to drop his bag off and saw Chanyeol, their graduate assistant who was working on his masters in sociology and over them.

He was talking to Baekhyun, his boyfriend who was a classmate of Suho’s.

"Hey guys," Suho greeted, getting their attention.

"Hey. Suho, who is that behind you? He's adorable!" Baekhyun said excitedly and Chanyeol chuckled.

Suho moved over a bit so they could see Lay but didn't let go of his hand since he was shy.

"This is the Lay, and he's the hybrid I adopted. Lay this is Chanyeol my boss and Baekhyun his boyfriend" Suho replied, introducing the three to each other.

"N-nice to meet you" Lay said, tightening the grip on Suho's hand.

"Aww! He's so precious Suho. It's nice to meet you Lay" Baekhyun replied and Chanyeol said the same.

Suho felt the grip on his hand loosen a little so he let go to put his bag in his locker.

Suho wasn’t sure but he swore he heard a whine slip from Lay but chose to say nothing about it.

“You and Suho need to go to the front desk. Your shift just started" Chanyeol said to Baekhyun, checking his watch.

Baekhyun whined about working as he left the break room.

"Suho. Lay can either stay here or at the front desk. It's his choice but I don't want him wandering in the library and getting lost" Chanyeol explained.

Suho nodded and Chanyeol left the break room leaving the two of them alone.

Suho turned to close his locker and almost bumped into Lay since he was right there.

"S-sorry" Lay apologized, feeling his face heat up.

'Cute' Suho thought and shook that from his head.

"Don't worry about it. Do you want to stay here or be at the front desk with me and Baekhyun?" Suho asked though he already knew the answer.

"Can I stay with you?" Lay said and Suho nodded, amused.

"Yes you can. Now let's go because they're waiting on us" Suho said and they left the break room.

Chapter 9

Summary:

Library adventures!

Lay also meets Chen.

Suho falls off a ladder (he’s fine I promise. It’s a small ladder)

Some tears and a lot fluff

Chapter Text

Lay looked around in awe at how big the library looked. There were so many books.

It had been about 2 hours since Suho started work.

Lay was in a chair behind the front desk. Lay saw they didn't have many people in the library.

Mostly it was students that were there currently and he could see why Baekhyun would get bored.

Suho had to go put books back in the second aisle but Lay could see him.  Baekhyun on the other hand, was at the desk talking to another guy that Lay assumes was another worker.

"Lay!" Baekhyun called, making him jump a little.

"You scared him Baek. Calm down a bit and he might actually talk" the guy Baekhyun was talking to a minute ago scolded.

"Hi, I'm Chen. It's nice to meet you and I'll keep you away from him" he said whispering the last part as he pointed to Baekhyun and it made Lay giggle.

"Chen, don't corrupt him!" Baekhyun yelled and Chanyeol shushed him, making Lay let out a small laugh.

Everyone turned when they heard a crash.

“What was that?” Chen asked.

“That sounded like it came from the aisle Suho was working on”

Before anyone could move, Lay jumped up and left the desk towards the second aisle.

When he made it over there, he was horrified when he saw Suho was on the floor.

Suho looked up to see Lay and was about to ask what was wrong when Lay hugged him.

Suho returned the hug and felt Lay’s whole body shaking. Suho just held him and ran his fingers through Lay's hair soothingly.

Baekhyun and the rest of the group soon followed.

"Everything okay? We heard a crash and Lay literally took off from the desk to find you" Chanyeol explained.

"I'm fine Chanyeol. Some books fell from the shelf and startled me so I fell, sorry" Suho replied.

"Don't worry about it. Why don't you take Lay to the break room? Me and Baek will clean up" Chen said.

“We are? I mean yeah we’ll do it” Baekhyun replied, as Chen gave a menacing glare.

Chanyeol just rolled his eyes, shaking his head.

"Are you sure?" Suho asked, getting up slowly keepikg his stable hold on Lay.

"Yes. We are sure, now shoo" Chen replied, giving a small push for Suho to get moving.

Suho thanked them and headed for the break room.

He sat down on the couch with Lay in his lap.

"Lay? Look at me please" Suho asked and Lay looked up with tear filled eyes, meeting his.

Suho figured that the crash was the reason Lay responded how he did.

"I'm okay, I fell over because of some books. I'm sorry that I scared you. I promise I’m alright" Suho said, wiping Lay's tears from his cheeks.

“Please stop crying okay?” Suho requested. Lay nodded and gave a small watery smile.

Suho gave a smile back as he rubbed Lay's back and felt him relax. A few minutes later he was asleep.

Suho was a bit tired as well and shifted so Lay could be comfortable and fell asleep.

"ho- Suho" a familiar voice called softly and Suho woke up, trying to get his eyes to focus.

He saw it was Baekhyun.

"What time is it?" Suho asked, yawning.

"It's 11:00. We came to check up on you two and saw y'all were asleep so Chanyeol went to finish something and we let you sleep, but he's done now and locking up" Baekhyun explained.

Suho nodded and moved over a bit remembering that Lay was sleeping.

"Good Suho you're awake. Baek, would you mind getting my bag while I lock the front?" Chanyeol said, poking his head in through the door.

"Already got it Chan" Baekhyun replied and Chanyeol left.

"Thanks for waking me up Baek. I need to get him home" Suho said, grateful as he looked at Lay.

Waving him off, Baekhyun shook his head.

"Not a problem. He's literally a cutie" Baekhyun said with a soft smile.

Suho agreed mentally, grabbing his bag from his locker.

"You need to wake him up Suho because you still look sleepy and I don't want you to drop him" Baekhyun suggested, leaving as Chanyeol called for them.

Suho didn't want to wake Lay but he didn't have much choice.  Suho shook Lay a little bit and he woke up.

Lay looked up at him sleepily with a pout and Suho forgot what he was going to say.

"Suho?" Lay called and Suho snapped out his trance.

"Sorry but we have to go now. Chanyeol is locking up the library" Suho said and Lay nodded.

Suho and Lay met up with Chanyeol and Baekhyun at the backdoor.

They all said their goodbyes and walked to their cars. Suho was glad when he finally parked.

As he was unlocking the front door, he heard Lay yawn.

Opening the door threw his bag inside and put his keys on top of his bag.

He tugged Lay inside and kicked the door closed before taking him to his room.

Suho covered Lay up in his comforter after taking off his shoes, and left quietly to his room.

He changed clothes, falling asleep instantly as he hit the bed.

Suho’s growing feelings for Lay are confusing him

Chapter Text

Suho

I laid my head on the table in the cafeteria, sighing which caught the attention of Jongin and Kyungsoo.

"Are you feeling okay?" Kyungsoo asked.

"Fucking super" I replied, sarcasm dripping as I lifted my head up.

"What crawled up your ass?" Jongin asked, sending a glare to Kyungsoo as he rubbed his arm where he just pinched him.

"Sorry. I just have a lot on my mind and I'm a little stressed" I said which was most of the truth.

My classes were getting demanding and I've been busy, but the real reason was a certain hybrid at home.

My mind has been on Lay. I couldn't stop thinking about the feelings I've been getting for the younger.

'I don't have time for this' I thought.

"Time for what?" Jongin said curious and that's when I realized I spoke out loud.

"Nothing. Don't worry about it" I said trying to brush it off but from the looks I was getting, I knew they weren't going to let it go.

"You might as well tell us Suho. You were never a good liar" Jongin said and I sighed.

"It's really nothing to worry about. Lay has just been on my mind is all" I admitted.

"Something wrong?" Kyungsoo asked, worried.

"No. It's more of a personal thing" I said, hoping they’ll drop it.

"We have to table this for later. We have class in ten minutes" Jongin said and I felt relieved.

We cleaned up our trash and headed to our next class.

Thankfully there wasn't a later because Jongin had dance practice and Kyungsoo had to run errands for his job.

Plus I had work right after class.

Chapter Text

Lay

I was watching television on the couch since I was bored when I felt my phone buzz. Picking it up, I saw I had a text from Suho.

From: Suho

Hey, is everything alright? I'm sorry I haven't texted much today.

I smiled reading the message before typing a reply.

To: Suho

I'm alright and it's okay. I know you've been busy lately.

From:Suho

That's good. And are you sure you're okay? I will be home late tonight.

To: Suho

I'm really okay. Be safe coming home :)

Putting my phone down, I decided to do some cleaning around the house and start my laundry.

After starting the laundry I went to my room and cleaned before going to Suho's room.

Suho’s room was a little messy but overall quite organized.

I picked up the loose papers and clothes on the floor. I separated the dirty clothes from the clean ones and put those in the basket he had in the corner of his room.

I saw a picture on the floor by the desk as I put the papers down in the desk chair.

I picked it up to look closer and saw Suho with another guy who was kissing him on the cheek.

‘Must be his boyfriend’ I thought, dropping the picture, feeling annoyed as I saw the smile Suho had on his face.

I pushed those feelings down and left his room to finish cleaning the rest of the house.

I checked the time and saw it was only 8:15.

Then I got the idea to make dinner for Suho as a thank you for helping me all the time even though he is busy himself.

I couldn’t figure out what to make and decided to text Kyungsoo.

To: Kyungsoo

I want to make dinner. I need ideas.

From: Kyungsoo

You can cook?

From: Kyungsoo

And try making bibimbap! Here’s a recipe

To: Kyungsoo

Lol yes. Luhan taught me before I left and was adopted to make sure I knew how.

I looked over the recipe Kyungsoo sent, seeing that I had all the ingredients here and the recipe seemed easy enough.

As I pulled out what I needed, my phone started ringing and I answered seeing it was Kyungsoo.

“How long have you known how to cook!”  he screeched and I stifled my laugh as I put the phone on speaker so I can finish gathering ingredients.

”It’s been about eight months. And I told you already that Luhan taught me how. ” I replied, beginning to start the recipe on my phone.

“And you decided not to tell me when I brought food for you. I’m gonna get you back for all those times” he said and I rolled my eyes knowing he couldn’t see me.

“I know Soo. And hey, can I ask you something?” I said chewing on my lip as I quickly washed my hands before chopping up the things I needed first.

“Sure. What about?” he replied.

“Umm. It’s about Suho” I answered.

“Okay. What do you want to know?” he said.

“Well, I was cleaning up today and went to fix up Suho’s room because he’s been in and out all week” I began and heard Kyungsoo sigh over the phone.

 “The question Lay” he said.

“Is Suho seeing anyone?” I asked after a few minutes of debating with myself.

“No he is not. He used to date this guy but after they broke up he hasn’t been in a relationship in about two years. Why are you asking?” he replied.

I was glad that Kyungsoo was not right next to me because he would see how red my cheeks are.

“N-no reason. I was just curious” I replied.

“You are such a liar Yixing! I may not be right next to you but I know when you’re ying. You have a crush on Suho don’t you?” he accused me and I sighed knowing I had to admit it.

“Maybe” I said and I heard a muffled ‘I knew it!’ in the background which sounded a lot like Jongin.

“That’s cute. I think you should tell him” he said and I almost choked on the water I was drinking.

“I should do what?! I can’t do that” I replied.

“Why not? Being completely honest here, I know Suho likes you but he doesn’t want to admit it” Jongin said instead of Kyungsoo which answered my question of whether Jongin was listening or not.

“I don’t know. I’m just not ready so just let it be okay?” I said hoping that they would let it go.

“Alright. I’ll leave it alone for now but I expect you to do something about it. Reminding me, do I need to refill your patches?” Kyungsoo replied.

I turned the stove cap that the pot I was cooking the food in on low before I went to check and see how many patches I had left.

“Yeah. I will finish them by Saturday” I said after looking at how many were left.

“Okay. I’ll put in the order and drop them off sometime this weekend.” he said in reply.

“Thanks Soo” I said grateful as I walked back to the kitchen.

We talked for a little while longer before he explained he had to go because Jongin was starving.

Since the bibimbap was already finished, I grabbed some plates down and fixed one for me and Suho.

I wrapped Suho’s up and placed a post it note on it as I sat on the couch to eat.

I turned on the tv and ate my food, quite pleased at how well it came out. I continued watching tv until I fell asleep.

Chapter Text

Suho

‘I hope Lay didn’t stay up waiting for me again’ I thought as I unlocked the door.

It was past midnight when I got home because Chen asked me to cover his shift last minute and I ended up having to close.

I took my shoes and jacket off, leaving them by the door.

A slight smile appeared on my face as I restrained myself from laughing when I walked into the living room seeing Lay.

He was laying across the couch asleep and he was cuddling a pillow. “Cute” I whispered under my breath.

I quietly walked by and into the kitchen to find something to eat when I saw a post-it note with my name on it attached to a plate.

‘Did Lay make this?’ I wondered looking towards the hybrid on the couch.

I tasted it and it was very good. I had just finished when my phone went off and I checked it seeing it was a text from Kyungsoo.

From Kyungsoo:

Did you taste the food Lay made?

To Kyungsoo:

Yeah! It was very good. I didn’t know that he could cook.

From Kyungsoo:

I just found out too. He is going to be cooking for me now. He owes me.

To Kyungsoo:

Hahaha. Maybe so but you’ll still cook for him if he asks.

From Kyungsoo:

I know. I can’t say no to him and he knows it. -_-

I laughed at the text knowing that he was right as I finished my food.

I washed the dishes since Lay was asleep and he cooked so I didn’t want to wake him.

After that, I took a shower and changed clothes before coming to get Lay and take him to bed.

I pulled the blanket up over him and before I knew it, I reached out and raked my fingers through his hair gently.

I left the room walking to mine. As I laid on my bed, I thought about what Chen said to me earlier that day.

“Hey Suho. Will you cover the rest of my shift tonight? I have a project I need to work on” Chen asked.

“Yeah sure” I replied nonchalantly since I wasn’t really focused.

Lay was still on my mind.

I didn’t know what to do with the feelings I have that are growing.

“-ho. Suho!” I heard, feeling hard poke and I turned looking at Chen annoyed.

“What?” I said.

“You’re so transparent. If you like Lay then tell him. How long has it been since he’s begun staying with you?” Chen said, ignoring the glare I was sending at him.

Ever since Kyungsoo and Jongin assumed I was hiding something, they left it to Chen and it wasn’t long before I told him everything.

“It’s been almost six months. It’s not that easy Chen. He may not like me back and he looks so-“

“Cute and adorable. I know! But this isn’t about Suho and you know it. It’s about him ” he said and I felt my body tense.

“I don’t want to talk about it” I said agitated, shoving those feelings from back then down before they could come back up and haunt me.

“I’m not forcing you too. I want you to be happy, Suho. Honestly, but I don’t want the relationship you may build with Lay to suffer if you don’t deal with this first. Like I said I’m not gonna force you to talk but I’m here to listen if you need it” He explained patting me on the shoulder before he walked off.

“Dealing with him requires more than me just facing it” I mumbled to myself falling asleep.

Chapter 13

Summary:

Chen and Jongin convince Suho to talk to his ex for closure.

Suho noticed how his and Lay’s relationship changed.

Suho realizes he’s definitely unprepared for meeting up with his ex.

Chapter Text

“My answer is still no regardless of how many times you ask,” Suho said, continuing to work on his homework ignoring the sighs coming from Chen and Jongin.

“Come on! It’s been two years. It wouldn’t hurt anything to just meet up with the guy for coffee” Jongin replied.

“I agree with Jongin. I think you should go because it can give you some form of closure and you will be able to talk everything out” Chen explained, frustrated when Suho shook his head.

“I don’t want to talk it out. Just because my ex messaged me out of the blue asking to meet up doesn’t mean I should just go. Why are you guys so adamant about me going?” he complained.

“What about Lay? If you don’t clear this up then how is your relationship going to be with him if both of you get together? You need to think this through” Chen started, holding his finger up before Suho could speak so he could finish.

“If you don’t go, you will always be left wondering why. On the other hand if you do then you can ask all the questions you’ve always wanted to” Chen said and Suho was silent knowing he was right.

“Fine. I’ll do it but you two have to watch Lay and take him shopping at the mall since I was planning to” he replied reluctantly after a few minutes.

“Done” both Chen and Jongin said at the same time with smug grins.

small time skip to a few days later

“Are you alright Su? You seem nervous” Lay asked the older, since he kept pacing around as he looked at the clock.

“I’m alright. Kind of. I just have to meet up with someone I haven’t seen in a long time” Suho replied, calming a bit when Lay gave him a quick hug.

“It’ll be fine. You look great” he said, cheeks flushing and Suho felt like his cheeks were on fire.

“T-thanks. I have to get going but Jongin and Chen should be here soon. Text me if you need anything” Suho replied  as he left the apartment.

As he walked to the coffee shop a few blocks down, Suho thought about how the relationship between him and Lay has changed from being awkward to something he can’t quite explain.

‘If I did confess then would we eventually end up being something more?’ he wondered, stopping in front of the coffee shop entrance to look through the window.

“Joonmyun! Is that you?” he heard behind him and when he turned around he realized that he is not prepared for this.

“K-kris”

Flashback to five years ago:

“Suho. I dare you to go ask the guy waiting at the counter for his number” Chen said and Suho shook his head.

“No way! Chen, he is so out of my league” he replied and Chen snorted.

“No he’s not. Suho I swear if you go and ask him he won’t say no” Chen said and Suho shook his head again as he got up to throw his trash away when he bumped into someone making their coffee spill on the floor and clothes.

“Oh my god! I’m so sorry. I can buy you another coffee to replace this one and pay for dry cleaning for your clothes” he said when he realized it was the hot guy who Chen just dared him to get his number.

“It’s okay. You don’t have to buy me anything. It’s just coffee” the guy said nonchalantly.

“But I feel really bad and want to do something,” Suho replied.

The guy was quiet  for a bit before he got an idea.

“You want to do something to make it up to me right?”  he asked and Suho quickly nodded.

“Do two things. The first one? Always keep a smile on your pretty little face.” he said.

“Umm..okay. What’s the second?”

“Go out on a date with me”

Suho stared in shock as Chen stifled his laughter as best he could.

“That’s all I want. I’m Kris Wu. What’s your name beautiful?” The guy said, winking.

“K-kim Joonmyun. M-my friends call me Suho” he replied, face crimson.

Kris chuckled as he took out a piece of paper from his bag and a pen.

He wrote some numbers down and gave the paper to Suho.

“Just text me when you have the time. Can’t wait for our date beautiful” Kris said waving as he left the coffee shop.

“What the fuck just happened?” Suho asked, turning towards his best friend who was still snickering.

“I believe you just got a date with a guy that you said was and I quote out of your league” Chen replied amused using finger quotes.

Flashback to three years ago:

“What do you mean you’re leaving for China tomorrow!” Suho asked angrily after hearing that his boyfriend is leaving for China tomorrow morning.

“My parents need me to take over the company for family reasons so I have to go back” Kris replied, reaching to pull his boyfriend into his arms.

“I know that. But why now? And why did you wait to tell me?” Suho said, unshed tears in his eyes that were on the edge of falling.

“We’ve both been busy lately so I wanted to tell you when we had time alone. I’m really sorry about this. Please don’t be mad” Kris explained, kissing Suho’s forehead.

“I can never stay mad with you. But I’m really gonna miss you. You are coming back right?” He asked, looking into Kris’s eyes.

“Of course. I’ll always come back for you” Kris replied, kissing Suho.

End flashback

‘Definitely not ready for this. Not at all’ Suho thought, as his ex approached.

Chapter 14

Summary:

Kris and Suho talk

Kris explains why he asked to meet up and makes bold confession

Chapter Text

“K-kris”

“That’s me! It has been so long since I’ve seen you. You look just as beautiful as I remember” he said and Suho felt his cheeks warm up a little.

“Thanks. You look good too. You want to go inside?” Suho replied, as he gestured towards the door and Kris nodded holding the door open for Suho.

After making their orders the two found a table by the window to sit.

“So, how’s everything been?” Kris asked.

“Everything has been good. Nothing much changed except that I have a hybrid that I adopted and take care of. His name is Lay and he’s the sweetest” Suho  answered, feeling a smile forming on his lips as he thought about Lay.

Kris looked at him amused as he listened.

“How have things been going for you? You’ve been married for two years now right?” Suho asked, pushing down the anxiety and other unnecessary feelings he’s having from seeing Kris in front of him.

“Everything is going okay. And yes, I did get married two years ago. But we got divorced recently” Kris explained and Suho nodded a bit shocked.

“Wow” he replied and Kris nodded as their orders were brought by a waitress.

“Joonmyun. I know I contacted you out of the blue asking to see you but I do have a reason for it” Kris said after a few minutes of silence.

“I figured that. It was pretty random considering we haven’t spoken for two years” Suho said looking out the window.

Kris sighed and was about to reply when Suho looked at him.

“Did you even consider my feelings when you decided that you weren’t coming back? You didn’t even try to let me know. You just disappeared” he said, all the feelings from the last two years coming to the surface.

“I did think about it and I just didn’t want to hurt you like I did when I left” Kris replied, guilt written all over his face.

“Disappearing like that hurts just as bad Kris! If you just told me, of course I would have been upset, but I would have gotten over it. You just stopped talking, leaving me with a broken heart and unanswered questions” Suho explained.

Before Kris could reply, Suho got up to throw away his trash and grabbed his jacket.

‘This was never a good idea from the start’ Suho thought.

“It was nice to see you Kris and be able to talk, but I have other errands to run today” he said walking out the door ignoring Kris calling him.

Suho only walked a few blocks when his wrist was grabbed.

“You didn’t let me finish saying what I needed to say” Kris said irritatedly and Suho turned around to look at him.

“Then finish” he replied, stern as he wrenched his hand away from Kris’s grip.

“Joonmyun, the reason I came back here and asked to see you is because I wanted to tell you that I gave up my position as CEO at my parent’s company” Kris explained.

“What? Kris, why would you do that?” Suho asked.

“Because I missed you Suho and I still have feelings for you. I wanted to come back to see if you wanted to get back together and give us another chance” he replied and Suho just looked at him stunned.

“You don’t have to tell me now, but just think about it. I’ll wait for you and your answer” he said, pecking Suho’s cheek before walking away.

‘This can’t be happening. This cannot be real’ Suho thought as he walked back home, the words of Kris’s confession still ringing in his ears.

Chapter Text

Lay

“HE WHAT?!” Chen screeched in the middle of the mall as me, him and Jongin were walking around causing a couple of people to look at us.

“Shut up. People are staring. What are you screaming for?” Jongin muttered annoyed  as we stopped in front of a bench.

Chen whispered something into Jongin’s ear and showed him his phone.

Jongin had this odd look on his face and the two started whispering.

I was worried that it had something to do with Su.

I pulled out my phone and sent a text asking if everything was alright.

“Guys? Is Suho okay?” I asked, catching the attention of Chen and Jongin.

“Oh yeah. He’s fine. Everything is fine Lay” Chen replied, ruffling my hair.

Then I felt my phone buzzing so I pulled it out of my sweatshirt seeing that Su replied.

To:Su

How did your meet up with your friend go? And is everything alright? Chen was being really loud and Jongin’s face looked weird.

From:Su

They are just being dramatic. And it was interesting but everything went well so I’m fine.

Still shopping? I’m on my way to the mall.

To:Su

Okay. We are still shopping. We aren’t too far from the cafe so we can wait there.

From:Su

Perfect :)

“Hey guys. Su is on his way here and I said that we would meet him at the cafe” I said pointing at the small cafe that was a few feet away.

“Awesome because I’m starving” Chen said and Jongin shook his head as we all walked over there.

“By the way, how long have you been calling him Su? We used to try using that name and he wouldn’t let us, but he lets you” Chen asked, telling his observations after we ordered and found a table.

Jongin looked curious as well but mostly amused.

“Stop teasing him Chen. I just like when he says it is all” I heard feeling hands on my shoulder.

“Su!” I said, turning around smiling as our eyes made contact.

“Hey Xing” He replied, smiling back.

“We’re still here” Jongin complained and I remembered where we were, breaking eye contact with Suho knowing my cheeks were flushed.

“And you say I’m the worst one” Chen replied, placing a tray down with everything we ordered.

There was one extra cup of coffee left on the tray after me, Chen and Jongin grabbed what we ordered.

“Whose is that?” Suho asked and I shook my head begging as Chen cracked a smile.

“Lay got it for you. He placed the order. I have to go since Soo texted me so I’ll see you guys later” Jongin replied smugly waving as he left the cafe.

“I have to go too. So see you guys!” Chen said running off to catch up with Jongin and I sighed wondering how they managed to become my favorite to hang out with other than Su.

“Well now that they are gone, you could tell me how you know how I like my coffee”

Focusing, I realized that Suho sat in the seat across from me, fingers around the last coffee cup with a teasing glint in his eyes.

I played with the sleeve of my hoodie as I looked out towards the other stores and people walking around as the blush that went away earlier came back full force.

“Don’t start. I just pay attention is all”

Then I thought about what happened earlier and a question came to mind.

“Su?”

“Hmm?”

“What happened at your meet up? I’m only asking because Jongin and Chen were acting a little strange”

‘Plus you seem bothered as well’

“It’s nothing for you to worry about”

‘But it worries me when you’re upset’

“Alright”

Suho gave a small grateful smile as he got up from his seat.

“Want to finish shopping?”

He held his hand out.

“Sure. Let’s go” I replied, taking his hand.

I noticed when he intertwined his fingers with mine.

It made me felt warm and tingly all over.

Chapter 16

Summary:

All Suho wants to do is his homework.

Can’t do it when everyone you know is gossiping and trying to help you with your love life.

If you can’t ignore them, join them.

Chapter Text

Suho

“Wait. Wait. Wait. So Kris quit his job, moved back here, and explained that he’s still in love with you?” Chen asked and I groaned aloud as I remembered it all.

“Yes Chen. That’s what happened”

“But he left you! That doesn’t make sense”

Jongin.

“True. But he also explained that he was regretful of that action, right Suho?”

Kyungsoo.

How did all three of them manage to corner me for this conversation?

A study session.

“But weren’t you two the ones that forced him to go?”

Baekhyun got involved at one point too.

As the discussion continued, I focused back on my calculus homework, feeling an impending headache.

I sat up from the couch in the break room hearing the door open and made eye contact with Chanyeol.

“Weren’t all of you supposed to be studying? I feel like I walked into a gossip session for a sleepover”

“That’s what this is Chan. Suho’s ex quit his job, came back and confessed that he still loves him and wants him back” Baekhyun explained giving a short summary.

“Baek!” I whined. Though I will deny it if asked.

“Wait. You mean Kris? Kris the ex that ghosted you and broke your heart after leaving for China!”

“Yes” I replied sighing.

Chanyeol walked in, closing the door and sat next to Baekhyun.

“So what’s the plan?”

“Not you too!” I complained.

“Just face it Suho. You knew that this was coming. So what did you tell him?” Chen said.

Everyone’s attention focused on me.

I ran my fingers through my hair as I looked back down at my textbook.

“I didn’t say anything. He told me to think about it and that he would wait for my answer”

“The answer is obvious. No” Kyungsoo mumbled.

I snorted as Jongin sighed.

“Babe. You say no because you don’t like Kris. You didn’t like him before or when they were dating”

Kyungsoo rolled his eyes as he scoffed.

“There was something about him. It was a feeling I couldn’t get rid of” he replied.

“Sorry but I agree with Kyungsoo. Besides you have feelings for Lay” Chen said and I glared at him.

“Chen!”

“What? Ohhhh. Not everyone knows, my bad”

Chanyeol caught me as I chased Chen who ended up behind the older.

“Cut it out you two. And Suho, sorry to say this but it’s been obvious” Baekhyun said.

“Ugh! So what should I do then?” I replied, giving Chen the evil eye as I went to go sit down.

He walked back to his seat smugly though Kyungsoo pinched him and I made a note to myself to get him something.

“First of all. You need to figure out your feelings for Lay!”

Jongin had a great point. I did need to figure out how I felt about Lay.

It was just so confusing.

Every time I was around him, I get a warm feeling.

He always knows how to cheer me up in a bad day.

He’s absolutely adorable and so caring.

Thinking about how we held hands at the mall, made my cheeks get warm.

 I like Lay.

I always want to be around him. He makes me smile and laugh.

I never want to see him upset

’OH. I love Lay’

“Suho. Your cheeks are flushed. You okay?” Kyungsoo asked, laying one of his hands on my forehead.

“Y-yeah. I’m fine Soo”

Chen gave me the knowing look and I flipped him off causing him to cackle.

“Say I have feelings for him. How would I know if he likes me back?” I said ignoring Kyungsoo yelling “fucking finally”.

Jongin and Chen gave me a smile with a certain glint in their eyes. I did not feel good about this.

“Leave that to us dearest Suho”

Chapter 17

Hey hey! It’s been a while but here’s an update. Not that long but at update nonetheless.

Chapter Text

How long has it been since you've been living there now?”

“Almost 9 months. How’s Min hyung?”

He’s fine. Sleeping right now though. He’s gonna be mad he missed your call ”

Lay laughed as he folded the laundry. He was talking to Luhan on a video call in his bedroom.

Lay did miss hanging around the two. Maybe he could plan a trip to go visit. He could bring Suho along to meet them.

‘It’s like I’m bringing home a boyfriend to meet my parents’

What are you thinking about? Your cheeks are flushed”

“Nothing” he answered quickly.

He didn’t have to even look at the laptop screen to know Luhan was rolling his eyes.

You can’t lie to me, Yixing. I know you too well

Lay sighed and was about to reply when his room door was knocked on, grabbing his attention.

He called for whoever it was to come in. He smiled seeing Suho.

“Su!”

Suho looked exhausted but the smile he had on his lips was genuine.

“Hey Xing. I just wanted to stop by. I picked up dinner and left yours in the kitchen”

“Thanks”

“No worries”

Who are you talking to ?”

Lay’s eyes widened as he remembered the video call.

“It’s Suho. He’s my- um”

Your boyfriend? ”

“No Lu. Nothing like that. He’s-” he started before cutting himself off.

What were they?

He could say friends but it feels like it more than that but they also aren’t dating. But Suho was his caretaker on paper.

He was about to speak when Luhan chuckled.

You’re seem so flustered all of a sudden. I’ll leave it be for now. I have to go anyway but come visit soon! ”

“I will. Love you Lu”

Love you too baby ”

Lay closed the laptop when the call ended.

“Sorry about that. I forgot he was still there. How was your day? You look tired”

“It was fine. Just long”

Lay hummed in response as he started folding clothes again.

“Hey Su. What would you-?”

“I think I’m gonna go to my room. Probably going to bed for the night”

Oh.

“Okay then. Goodnight Su”

“Goodnight”

Once he heard Suho’s door close. Lay laid back on his bed.

He rolled onto his side, pulling at some threads on his blanket.

‘I wonder what’s wrong?’

‘He had a smile the entire time but-’

“Why did his eyes look so sad when he left?” he muttered the rest of his thoughts aloud.

Chapter Text

A week and a half later

Lay walked into the library. He didn’t see anyone at the front desk and looked around.

He smiled and waved as he saw Baekhyun pushing a cart filled with books.

“Lay! It’s been a while since you’ve been here. How are you?”

“Being honest. Not so great. Is Chen here?”

Baekhyun frowned at the reply but nodded.

“I’m sorry hun. And yeah. Chen’s in the break room. Follow me”

Baekhyun laid a hand on his shoulder as they walked through the employee only door.

He had never seen Lay look so down. They haven’t been around each other that long but even he knew something was not right.

“Chen. You have a visitor” he called out as they walked into the break room.

Chen sat up from the small sofa, blinking sleepiness away as he began waking up.

“A visitor?”

“Yeah. It’s just me” Lay replied.

“Oh! Lay. It’s good to see you” he said, shifting to sit up as he yawned.

“Not sleeping well?” Baekhyun teased and Chen scowled.

“You forgot to mention that your boyfriend snores when he’s sick”

Baekhyun’s eyes widened and he pulled out his phone, beginning to text quickly.

“He’s what! I’m going to kill him” he muttered as he left the break room.

Chen and Lay looked at one another before shrugging.

“So what’s the matter?”

Lay’s eyes widened with shock.

“How?”

“We’ve known each for more than 7 months now. I can read you pretty well. Plus you look liked a kicked puppy”

Lay let out a small laugh in response before sighing.

“What’s wrong?”

“It’s about Suho. I think I’ve upset him”

’What the fuck’ Chen thought as ran his fingers through his hair.

“Alright. Lay it on me” he replies.

Chapter Text

Lay felt his eyes watering up and he took a deep breath to keep himself from crying.

“Aww don’t cry. What’s wrong?” Chen asked, concerned.

Lay explained what happened the night of the video call.

“So you think he started acting weird then?”

Lay nodded.

“What else?”

“Um. Well-”

Lay got up early that morning. He cooked breakfast to try and cheer Suho up since that time a few nights ago.

‘He said he was fine but it doesn’t feel right’

Lay finished breakfast and started the coffee maker.

Since everything was done, he went to take a quick shower.

By the time he came out and was dressed, Suho’s room door was open. He also didn’t hear him anywhere else around the house.

He went into the kitchen to check and see if he at least got breakfast.

The food was left as it was and the coffee had gone cold.

*scene change*

Lay hadn’t seen Suho in a week. He’s always gone when Lay gets up in the morning and in his room with the door closed by the time he’s preparing to cook dinner.

Lay knew he was being avoided. But for what?

So he decided to go and check on him.

Thankfully the older’s door was open. Lay knocked but when he didn’t get a response he sighed.

“Su? Su. Suho”

“Hmm?”

Lay fidgeted with the edge of his sweatshirt.

“Can we talk?”

Suho paused at what he was typing and turned to face Lay.

“I’m a little busy but sure. What’s up?”

‘You can do this’  Lay thought to himself.

“Are you alright? You seem a bit distant from me lately”

Suho smiled but it looked so fake and forced

I’m fine. I just have a lot to do”

‘Why can’t you be honest?’

“Are you sure? It’s like you’re avoiding me”

Suho frowned in response. He seemed annoyed.

“I told I’m fine. I’m not avoiding you. I’m just busy”

‘Is it something-?”

“Can’t you just drop it! Please Lay” he replied, snapping.

‘He didn’t call me Xing’

“Yeah. Sorry. I’ll leave you alone”

“And that’s what happened. Maybe it’s not that big a deal but something feels wrong Chen. I think it’s my fault”

Tears were falling down his cheeks now. He could feel it.

Chen wiped at Lay’s tears. Then he interlaced one of their hands together.

“Look at me Lay”

When he was sure the younger was looking at him, Chen’s grip tightened a little. Not enough to hurt but ground.

“I’m going to be blunt and it may be hard to hear”

Lay nodded and gave a his full attention as he sniffled.

‘Look what you did Suho’ Chen thought.

“It is your fault. Partially though. And I see that it is something you recognize and want to fix”

Lay nodded in agreement.

“So let’s discuss. Let’s go back to the video call. Did something happen then?”

Lay was quiet as he thought for a bit.

“Like I said I was talking with Luhan. I lived with him and Minseok before I was adopted. They are like older siblings to me”

“Something about that bothered him. Though that doesn’t give him an excuse to act like an asshole”

But why would Suho care about that?

It didn’t make sense.

“I think I know what is wrong with him”

“Really? Tell me Chen. Please!”

“How about you stay with Jongin and Soo for the night?”

“Huh. Why?”

“Just for tonight. I need to talk to Suho. Okay?”

“Okay”

When Lay left, Chen leaned his head against the wall.

“Why couldn’t I have friends that aren’t emotionally incompetent?”

Chapter Text

Suho was pacing around the apartment. It was almost 11:00 and Lay still wasn’t home from when he left earlier that afternoon.

Suho does admit he is a little worried. He sent a few texts only to not get a response. He was upset at first but realized that he didn’t have much of a reason to be.

He had been quite rude to Lay the past week and a half.  There was just something about that video call that pissed him off.

“Love you too baby ”

Suho groaned as he flopped on the couch.

Who was that guy anyway?

Lay never mentioned having a boyfriend. Maybe he was a friend?

Sibling?

Cousin?

Whatever they are. It shouldn’t matter. So why does it?

He sat up as he heard the jingling of keys and the front door opening. He quickly got up and ran to the door.

“You’re finally-, Chen?”

Chen gave a wave as he removed his shoes.

“Hey. Sorry I wasn’t who you were expecting”

“No worries. What are you doing here? And have you seen Lay?”

Chen huffed as he walked past Suho to sit down on the couch.

“Wouldn’t you like to know? But for your information, he’s spending the night with Soo and Jongin”

Kyungsoo and Jongin?

For what? And why wouldn’t he tell him?

“I asked him too. Because we need to talk”

Suho was a bit thrown off at how Chen was able to read the question he had wanted to ask and answered it with ease.

Suho sat down next to his friend, wondering what they needed to talk about.

“What’s wrong Chen?”

Chen took a deep breath as he ran a hand through his hair.

“I’m here to get your head out of your fucking ass! What the hell is wrong with you?”

Suho's ears rung with the words.

He knew exactly who and what they were talking about without even saying so.

“I-. I don’t know Chen. All I do know is that I’ve treated Lay awful these past week” Suho replied, truthfully.

“You did. You really hurt his feelings. He cried in the break room just telling me what was going on last week. What happened two weeks ago?”

Suho sighed as he pulled one of his legs up on the couch to lean on.

“I came home like usual and went to talk to Lay. He was doing laundry and I didn’t realize he was on a video call until the guy he was talking to said something” he explained, as the memory popped into his head.

“-ho. Suho! ” Chen called, catching his attention.

“What?”

“You spaced out. I asked what did he say?”

“Sorry. He asked who he was talking too and if I was his boyfriend. Lay said no and of course we aren’t but it-”

“Stung. Am I right?” Chen interrupted and Suho nodded.

“Not gonna lie, but you sound jealous Suho. Why didn’t you ask Lay who he was? Like a regular adult that’s able to communicate feelings?”

Suho let the words sink in and realized that his friend had a point. He could’ve just asked instead of acting out of jealousy.

“I owe Lay an apology”

“Yes. Yes you do. Though I can say that I did find out who our loving bunny boy was talking too” Chen said with a smug grin.

The other watched as Suho’s eyes brightened with interest and he was amused.

“Who is it?”

“Not telling. If you want to know then talk to Lay” Chen replied, ignoring the heated glare that was being sent.

“I fucking hate you” Suho muttered with no malice in his tone.

“And I hate having to come and mediate for you guys to be able to communicate. I’m gonna lock you two in a closet one day” Chen replied, rolling his eyes fondly.

Suho let out a small laugh as he leaned against his friend. Chen wrapped an arm around him reciprocating the affection.

Though Kyungsoo and Jongin have known him longer, he could never say that Chen isn’t his closest best friend even though they met his freshman year of college.

He always knew what was wrong and Suho would always end up telling him even if he didn’t want to.

He was always there. Always willing to call him out on all his bullshit while helping him correct it.

“Thanks Chen. For always being there even if you do steal all my notes and my snacks” he muttered, sleepily.

“I love you too” Chen replied as he ran his fingers through Suho’s hair easing the other to sleep.

Chapter Text

Lay was sitting in the living room. He sighed as he glanced at his phone for what could be the twentieth time since he got up that morning. The house was quiet as everyone was still asleep.

Lay didn’t sleep that well. He mostly tossed and turned all night.

He couldn’t stop thinking about Suho and the whole situation.

He really missed the older. Plus he hadn’t heard anything from either of them.

He grabbed the remote, turning on the television which had some baking show on.

It was a distraction from his thoughts and the desserts did look good. Maybe he could convince Kyungsoo to bake some for him.

The sound of keys and the front door opening, startled him and he turned to see who it was.

It was Jongin with his gym bag. The other didn’t notice him at first until he finished hanging up his jacket.

“Oh! Morning Lay. You’re up early. Something wrong?” He said, tossing his car keys into the bowl he was standing next too.

Lay shook his head.

“Not wrong exactly. I’ve been thinking about Suho and I didn’t sleep that great” he replied.

“The bed was really comfortable though so it wasn’t that!” Lay quickly added as he noticed Jongin frowning as he listened.

He was about to say something else when Jonging’s hand laid on his head. The other ruffled his hair as he sat down next to him on the sofa.

“Relax Lay. It’s understandable. Chen told us everything to me and Soo. Of course we both were pissed but he promised he would handle it. Everything will be fine” he explained.

“You think so?”

“I don’t think Lay. I know”

“He does not” a voice said and neither of them had to turn around to know who it was.

“Hey Soo”

“Hey love”

Kyungsoo let out a short laugh at the greetings as he walked to stand at the back of the sofa.

“Good morning” he replied,  giving his boyfriend a short kiss first before turning and giving Lay a kiss on his forehead.

“Coffee?” Jongin asked, chuckling at the small “please” from Kyungsoo.

“Come sit. Do you want anything, Lay?”

“No thanks. Just go get Soo his caffeine”

Kyungsoo lightly shoved Lay as he climbed over the back of the sofa.

“Don’t judge me. My house” he grumbled, noticing Lay’s stare and the other giggled.

“I know why Nini is up. You I don’t. Spill”

Lay was about to answer when his phone vibrated on the table.

Then it did it two more times.

“Are you going to see who it is?”

Lay grimaced.

“I’m nervous”

Kyungsoo rolled his eyes, grabbing the phone, easily unlocking it as he looked to see who was contacting Lay at this early hour.

“How did you?”

Lay hardly finished the question when Kyungsoo replied.

“You keep the same passcode. You really need to stop doing that by the way”

He handed the phone to Lay with the text messages app open to a familiar number as he got up to go to the kitchen.

From: Lu

Quick question.

From: Lu

How mad would you be if I said that Soo told us about your crush?

From: Lu

Also how mad would you be if I said me and Min were coming to visit and meet him in… two days?

Lay’s brain was processing the words on the screen. Let’s process the facts.

1. Luhan and Minseok were coming in two days.

2. Soo told them about his crush on Suho and they now want to meet him.

In Lay’s mind the priority was clear as he burst through the kitchen door.

“YOU DID WHAT!”

Jongin almost dropped his mug in shock while his boyfriend was sipping his coffee out of his mug without a flinch.

“Sehun and Tao are still sleeping” Kyungsoo chided.

“Babe they sleep like the dead. I doubt they’ll wake up to Lay freaking out”

“I’m sorry that I’m just now finding out you squealed to Lu and Min about my crush on Suho! They want to come meet him now!” Lay said.

“That’s what this is about?” Jongin asked.

“You knew too?!”

“I was doing homework and not participating in the conversation but I was there”

“You guys are the worst”

“We love you too hun” Kyungsoo replied, with amusement written all in his eyes.

“By the way. Chen texted me, saying that you could go back home later today. And that Suho wants to talk to you” Jongin said and Lay’s anxiety amped up tenfold.

“Talk about what? Did he say?”

“No. But we’ll stay if you want us too”

“I couldn’t ask-”

“Yixing. Do you want me and Soo to stay when you talk to Suho?”

“Yes”

“Then we’ll stay. Easy as that” Kyungsoo said and Lay felt more at ease about the upcoming conversation.

Chapter 22

Summary:

Suho is bored at work so he chills with Chen.

Kris shows up. Chen being Chen. Suho is so over it.

Chanyeol meets Kris.

Notes:

This was the chapter I was supposed to be posting 😂🫠

So here you go! Enjoy :)

Chapter Text

Suho sighed as he finished up alphabetizing a stack of files that Chanyeol gave him to work on earlier since there wasn’t much to do.

He was sitting with Chen at a table that allowed him to see the door to keep an eye out for specific people (Jongin and Kyungsoo) while being in sight of the front desk in case Chanyeol needed him.

“Something on your mind?” Chen muttered, pausing his typing on his laptop to look up at his best friend.

“Hmm? No. It’s nothing” Suho replied as his eyes flicked to his phone when it buzzed.

“So you aren’t checking your phone to see if Lay texted you?”

“Of course not”

“You’re a shitty liar Suho”

Suho rolled his eyes and was about to say something but didn’t. Chen raised his eyebrow confused, shifting to turn around when Suho kicked his ankle.

“What is up with you!” He grumbled as he leaned to rub at his now sore ankle.

“Hey Suho! And is that you Chen?” a voice said as someone walked up.

“Too late,” Suho whispered as Kris stood at the edge of their table.

“Kris Wu! Mr. CEO himself! How have you been?” Chen said with a smile as he closed his laptop.

“Fine. Just wandering around. And I don’t know if Suho told you but I’m no longer CEO. I left the company” Kris replied and Chen had a look of surprise as his eyes widened with feigned shock.

‘Drama queen’ Suho thought as he rolled his eyes.

“Really? He didn’t tell me. And you moved back here? Whatever for?” Chen asked, wanting to hear the confirmation of what he has been told himself.

“It’s a little personal but I asked Suho to get back together with me. He hasn’t given me an answer yet” Kris answered as he looked over at Suho who was “working” on those files he finished earlier.

‘He won’t say yes’ Chen thought as he nodded.

“What are you doing here?” Suho asked, hopefully steering the conversation away from whatever Chen was trying to do as he looked up from the file in his hand.

“I was actually wandering around to see what changed. That was true. It was a complete coincidence to see you two here. What about you?” Kris replied.

“I'm working on my final project since finals are coming up soon. Suho is actually working but it’s been slow” Chen answered, just as Chanyeol walked up.

“Oh! Hello. Did you need help with anything?” He asked, looking at Kris who shook his head.

“No thank you. Just catching with these two. I’m Kris Wu. Suho’s ex boyfriend” he replied, introducing himself.

If Chanyeol was surprised or felt anything at all, neither Chen nor Suho could tell.

“Pleased to meet you, I’m Chanyeol. I work here and supervisor of these two. Suho, there's two carts of books that need to be put away if you are finished with those files. Chen, I needed to speak with you about your schedule for tomorrow” Chanyeol said, turning to face the two he actually came to talk to.

“I’m done with the files Chanyeol. Sorry Kris I have to go. Duty calls. See you around” Suho replied, smiling awkwardly as he waved before turning to jog towards the desk with the files in his arms.

“Seems like it’s time for me to continue my wandering. I’ll have to come back sometime. Nice to see you again Chen” Kris said, smiling, walking back towards the main door. He turned to wave at Chen and Chanyeol as he left.

“So that's Kris. I understand what Kyungsoo meant. I just met him and I don’t like him” Chanyeol muttered under his breath.

“What?” Chen asked as he packed up his stuff.

“Nothing. Let’s go talk about your schedule” Chanyeol replied as he walked off, Chen following behind.

Chapter Text

“You’ve been pacing for 30 minutes, Lay. You’re gonna put a hole into the floor eventually” Kyungsoo stated dryly and the younger paused to sigh.

“I’m just nervous. What if he doesn’t want me anymore? It hasn’t been a year yet so he could still send me back” he replied, sitting down on the arm of the chair Kyungsoo was sitting in.

“He wouldn't do that darling. He cares about you a lot.”

Lay ran a hand through his hair.

Glad he thinks that.

“I guess so. Wish both of you were able to come though. No offense” Lay muttered as Kyungsoo laid his hand on the younger’s arm.

“None taken. I wish Jongin was here also but he had to work. But it’ll be fine. Trust me” he replied as the locks on the front door were being unlocked.

Here we go.

Keys landed into the bowl by the door.

Backpack thumped against the wall as footsteps walked down the short hallway.

“Lay!”

Suho sounded relieved, he noted.

He looked tired but it was so good to see him again.

“Hey Su” he replied, willing the tears in his eyes not to fall as he took a small breath in before releasing it.

Suho looked just as nervous as he was.

His hands were shoved into his pockets but Lay knew if they weren’t, they would be pulling at the loose threads on his hoodie.

Kyungsoo clapped his hands, getting both their attention.

“Let’s sit down and talk yes?”

Chapter 24

Summary:

Kyungsoo had to take a call.

Suho and Lay finally talk.

Notes:

It’s an update! Shocker lol.

But anyway enjoy lovelies! ☺️

Chapter Text

Once everyone was settled and sitting down, silence took over the room. Neither knew how to start the conversation.

Lay kept his eyes downwards facing his lap while Suho looked everywhere but the young hybrid across from him.

Kyungsoo sighed, getting both their attention. “One of you will have to talk to start, you know?” he said, sounding exasperated but his eyes expressed amusement.

“Shut up Soo” Suho replied, rolling his eyes and Lay giggled.

“That’s a start. Now talk to Lay and not me” Kyungsoo replied as his phone started ringing. He frowned when he saw who was calling.

“Something wrong?” Lay asked as Kyungsoo answered the call. The man spoke for a bit before pulling the phone from his ear.

“It’s Jongin but it’s nothing serious. I think. I’m only going to be in your bedroom Lay so if you need to come find me please do so, but I would prefer if you two talked while I’m gone” he explained, pointedly staring at Suho before walking out the living room leaving them alone.

Suho took a small breath in and released it.

“I’m sorry! Please don’t send me back! I like being here”

Suho’s eyes widened at the outburst and his heart ached seeing Lay attempt to blink back tears that were teetering on falling.

Before he knew it, Suho was kneeling on the floor by the younger’s knees. He reached out with one hand to wipe away Lay’s tears.

He wasn’t sure if this was a good idea but he hated being the reason Lay cries.

The feeling of guilt ripped through his entire body.

“Just listen to what I have to say. Please don’t interrupt. I need you to hear me. Okay?” Suho said, as their eyes met.

The seriousness in the older’s eyes, startled Lay but he nodded in reply.

Removing his hand that was on Lay’s cheek, Suho brought his other hand up and wrapped both of them around the younger’s intertwining their fingers.

“La-, Yixing. You don’t need to apologize for anything. I am so sorry. Instead of me communicating with you about my feelings I treated you terribly, and made you uncomfortable here in our home. I hate being the reason that you cried. You don’t have to ever forgive but I want you to understand that it was never your fault”

Lay listened and heard the pure sincerity in the words. His chest unclenched and he felt like he could breathe again.

But would Suho send him back?

He was still worried about that, as silly as it seemed.

It was as if the older could hear the unasked question as he smiled softly.

“I could never send you back. I’ve grown a bit too used to you being around that it wouldn’t be the same around here”

Lay sat in silence as he processed. Relief flowed through his body after hearing what Suho said.

He knew it wasn’t going to be any easier and that communicating will have to be an important piece from now on.

But he was never mad at Suho. Not at all. Tugging on the older’s hands, he gestured for him to sit next to him.

He pulled him into a hug.

“I forgive you. I really missed you Su”

Suho stiffened, feeling Lay hug him. It surprised him. He knew that the younger felt it as he began to pull back from the embrace.

No!

He wrapped his arms around Lay to keep him from letting go. He felt the body against his, relax and sink into his hold.

Suho leaned his head on top of Lay’s.

“I missed you too Xing”

Chapter 25

Chapter Text

“Wait wait wait. Luhan and Minseok are his brothers?” Suho said, leaning against the counter as Kyungsoo cooked. Jongin was taking a shower while Lay was napping on the couch.

Suho had woken up not too long ago himself. After that conversation, he and Lay fell asleep cuddled up together.

He only woke up when Kyungsoo tapped his shoulder and gestured for him to follow.

“Mhm. Luhan and Lay are actually step brothers. Minseok kind of adopted him really since he was dating Luhan at the time. They’ve been married for two years now”  Kyungsoo explained, grimacing as he tasted the stew he was making.

Jealous for fucking nothing. Way to go Suho.

“What is it?”

“Needs more salt” Jongin muttered as he walked into the kitchen, drying his hair with a towel.

Suho’s head whipped around as Kyungsoo chuckled to himself.

“How did you-“

“Most of the time, whenever he’s cooking, and makes a face like that. It’s because he didn’t put in enough salt. Am I right babe?” Jongin replied as he kissed the top of Kyungsoo’s hair.

“Mhm” Kyungsoo murmured in reply as he shooed Jongin away after pecking his cheek while his eyes searched the spice cabinet.

“Salt is right here love. Also did Soo or Lay tell you that Luhan and Minseok are supposed to be here tomorrow morning?” Jongin said as he passed the salt to Kyungsoo before turning to face Suho.

“No! No they did not! Are they staying here? If so, I need to clean the other guest room” Suho replied, panicking at the short notice.

“Relax and breathe Suho. They booked a hotel. We offered for them to stay with us but they didn’t want to impose on us”

“Brunch at ours tomorrow morning at 9:00. Don’t be late. Watch the food while I wake Lay” Kyungsoo said as he left the kitchen.

“This is about to be very interesting” Suho mumbled while Jongin chuckled.

“You said it”  he replied amusement written all over his face.

“You’re enjoying this too much” Suho mumbled and Jongin shrugged.

Chapter Text

Suho was in front of his closet trying to figure out what shirt to wear when he heard a knock on his bedroom door.

Turning his head, a smile grew on his lips seeing Lay.

“Hey you. Finished already?” He asked, about to turn back around when he noticed Lay’s outfit. He was wearing jeans, a gray crop top with a black cardigan, and white tennis shoes.

It was simple but it looked good on him. Anything he wore did in Suho’s opinion as bias as it was.

“Cute” he said, before turning back towards his closet.

Then his brain caught up to what just happened and he knew his cheeks were flushed. He didn’t even have to look in his mirror.

Lay giggled as he walked up to Suho. The older avoided his eyes and it made him let out another giggle.

“It’s fine, Su. It was a sweet compliment. Don’t be embarrassed” he said and Suho looked at the younger before smiling.

“You’re cheeks are just as bad Xing!” Suho teased.

“You weren’t supposed to point it out!” Lay complained, lightly shoving him as he went to sit on the bed and Suho shrugged.

It was good to be able to banter like this again.

Suho couldn’t imagine his life without it.

“Moving on. I can’t decide what shirt to wear. I know I’m overthinking but I want your brothers to like me”

Lay’s eyes rolled as he sighed.

“They’ll love you Su. We talked about this already last night at dinner. They aren’t going to gossip about what shirt you’re wearing. But if you’re asking then wear the yellow polo. It’s soft and brings out your eyes”

Suho grabbed the shirt in question, looking at it. He never knew that Lay paid so much attention to him when he wore it.

Have I just never noticed?

“Thanks Xing. Let me change real quick and then we can go” he replied, heading into his bathroom as the doorbell rung.

“I’ll get it. Finishing changing. It’s probably Soo coming to fuss at us” Lay said as he got up from Suho’s bed, fixing the blankets back to how they were before leaving the room.

Lay walked down the hallway as the doorbell was rung again.

“Coming!” he yelled just as he got the door.

He opened it and frowned confused as an a man he didn’t know was shown.

The man was quite nice loooking and his face looked oddly familiar. He couldn’t quite place where though.

“Can I help you?”

The man smiled brightly as he held a hand out towards him.

“You must be Lay. I’ve heard a lot about you. I’m Kris Wu. Is Suho here?”

Then it all came crashing into his mind as Lay remembered where he had seen that man’s face.

As he thought of the photo in Suho’s room when he first moved in.

This was Suho’s ex-boyfriend.

Chapter Text

Lay stood there staring at Kris as he leaned against the half open door.

The older man didn’t say anything and silence engulfed the two as they stared at one another.

After a second or two, Lay took a step back allowing the door to open all the way, remembering his manners.

“Would you like to come in?” he asked, politely even though he didn’t want to.

But maybe Suho asked the man to come over so he couldn’t just be rude.

“Yes please. Thank you”

Kris smiled as he walked in. It was easy to see that it was artificial and Lay fought to withhold the shiver that wanted to go down his spine.

“Would you like anything to drink?”

Kris shook his head as he walked around the living room, looking at the pictures on the wall.

“No thank you” he replied as he picked up a picture. Lay recognized it as the one they took together a few weeks after he first moved in.

Lay felt as one of his eyes twitched as he smiled sickeningly sweet.

“You can go ahead and take a seat. I’ll go and get Suho. Shouldn’t take but a few minutes” he replied as he left the room.

Lay let out a sigh once he was sure he couldn’t be seen.

Leaning against the wall, he sunk to the floor laying his head on his arms that were on top of his knees.

‘Why did it have to be today? Why when everything just got better?’

Lay felt his eyes watering and he took a deep breath in, willing himself not to let them fall.

Why was he crying? There isn’t a reason for it. If Suho wants to see his ex, that's nothing to do with him.

Right?

He wasn’t focused enough to notice the upcoming footsteps that stopped in front of him.

“-ay. Xing. Yixing”

Lay looked up, his teary eyes meeting Suho’s who was kneeling in front of him.

He couldn’t stop from throwing himself into the other’s arms.

He felt Suho’s arms wrapped around him and they stayed like that for a moment or two though it felt like hours.

Pulling back, Lay sniffled, wiping away stray tears before clearing his throat.

“You have a guest” he murmured loud enough for the two of them to hear.

Suho frowned in confusion wondering who would be here as he helped Lay off the floor, their fingers still interlocked.

“Who? Chen?”

Lay shook his head.

“It’s Kris”

Suho bit back the loudest sigh as his eyes rolled.

“Of course it fucking is” he muttered under his breath.

The fingers in his tightened and he glanced over at Lay.

“Can you call Soo and tell him we’ll be a few minutes late since I have a pest to get rid of” he asked, and Lay nodded though a tiny smile showed up from the man’s joke about Kris.

“Sure. Let me deal with the tornado called Kyungsoo”

Suho let out a short laugh and chewed the bottom of his lip for a moment before leaning over to kiss Lay’s cheek.

Lay stood there stunned. The spot where Suho’s lips had left tingled.

Suho knew his cheeks were reddening and decided to ignore it and focus on the matter at hand.

“Call Soo. I’ll be done in a bit” Suho said, already walking towards the living room.

“Yeah sure” Lay replied, raising a hand to touch his cheek that Suho kissed.

Holy shit. Suho just kissed me’ he thought as a smile grew on his lips.

FINALLY WE A GET A KISS. A cheek one but still a kiss.

Chapter Text

“Are you really sure they’ll like me Xing?” Suho asked as he and Lay walked up the walkway to Jongin and Kyungsoo’s house.

Lay rolled his eyes playfully.

“Yes Su. You asked me that last night and earlier today. I promise they’ll like you. I always talked about you to them”

“Uh oh. Should I be worried?” Suho teased, chuckling when Lay shoved him.

“It was nothing bad! I swear on Kyungsoo’s cooking”

“Swear on my cooking for what?” a voice asked, startling the two as Kyungsoo popped up from the side of the house.

“You scared the hell out of us” Suho stated and Kyungsoo shrugged with a smug smile as he gestured for them to follow.

“Then you were doing something you weren’t supposed to be if you couldn’t hear me”

“We weren’t doing anything unless you count us being a little late due to kicking out a certain pest” Suho replied.

Kyungsoo let out a snort.

“Come on! Luhan and Minseok are waiting on you two”

*

“Lu!” Lay yelled and Suho watched as he ran up to a man about 5’10, with dark brown hair quite longer in the back than the front as it was pulled back into a messy bun. He was also wearing glasses.

He gleefully smiled as his arms wound around Lay’s waist, picking him up with ease.

“Luhan?” Suho muttered to Kyungsoo who nodded.

“You’re Suho I presume?” an unfamiliar voice asked and Suho’s head whipped around as he tried not to panic as his eyes met dark ones that looked cat-like.

The man he was facing was very handsome. He was the same height as him. He had dark hair that looked jet black. He was also wearing glasses but they were round and really showed his eyes. He was holding a mug of tea.

“Good luck” Kyungsoo muttered as he patted Suho’s shoulder before disappearing to who knows where.

“You are Suho right? I don’t want my husband getting onto me about teasing the wrong man. I’m Minseok” he said as he held out a hand.

“Ahh yes. My name is Joonmyun but everyone calls me Suho” he greeted politely, shaking Minseok’s hand.

The man smiled softly as he took a sip from his mug.

“Good to know I have the right guy. Though it wasn’t hard because Yixing described you perfectly” he said and Suho didn’t show it but he was surprised that he confirmed that Lay did tell them about him.

He glanced back over at Lay who was talking with Luhan, happily. His eyes met Suho’s and he waved before focusing back on his brother.

“So. Tell me a bit about yourself Suho and what your intentions are with Yixing” Minseok requested bringing Suho out of his thoughts.

‘Here we go. Why couldn’t I have gotten Luhan’  he thought as he answered the questions easily though he was honest about his feelings for Lay and he felt quite vulnerable sharing them so openly.

As if able to read his mind, Minseok smirked.

“Well as long as you don’t break his heart  you’re fine with me. You seem like a good kid. But if  you think I’m intimidating then you’re in for it with Lu” the older man teased and Suho sighed aloud hearing the man beside him chuckle.
