Chapter Text
It was cold, dark and wet as it so often was in the mountains of Nibelheim. Not a problem for the family’s living within the village, Cloud doubted they had ever had a day of struggle in their lives, although he might just be jealous. He had never had such a comfort, no roof would ever be over his head keeping him dry, no fire to keep him warm and certainly no full stomach he thinks as said stomach makes an ungodly loud growl at the split-second thought of food.
No, Cloud would never have such comforts again, not after his mum died all those years ago. he couldn’t really remember her well, he must have been around six years old when she had died, he could however remember the large bloody wound across her chest that killed her, the result of the towns people finding out about him, a son she shouldn’t of had, a son she had hidden so well for so long.
A son, who was an omega
Such a small town had never seen anything like it, it was biology, alphas were rare but could be both male and female, betas were the most common and could also be male and female and omegas?
well omegas were extremely rare, but they were all female. They all possessed a pair of fox like ears and a long bushy tail, Clouds matched the colour of his hair although the tips of both appendages were a platinum blond, another reason why the Strifes had such a hard time, blond was a rare colouring to possess, So, when they discovered that the village outcast had not only had a child out of wedlock but also a male child who was somehow an omega, they saw it as a chance to get rid of her as they had been trying to find an excuse to do for years.
And so, at the tender age of six, Cloud was never comfortable again. His mum had escaped the village with not a single scratch to him, but she was not so lucky, she wouldn’t make that very night. Her last desperate words to Cloud, to ‘never trust an alpha’
And that should sum up what cloud thinks of the very village he’s watching now, the men within the houses pretending they are kind loving husbands, as though they didn’t kill as woman for simply giving birth to a child, as though they didn’t chase a desperate mother into the cold mountains when she had tried so hard to explained she would just leave the village, when she had promised they would never see her again.
Huffing Cloud carefully makes his way down the steep ledge he has been hiding on for about a hour, his ears twitched listening out for any signs of movements that were not his own. it was dark now, and late enough that he was sure all the village would be asleep tucked up within their warm rooms so that extinguished some of the worry from his mind, frowning he slowly and quietly makes his way to where he knows is the local bakers, a good place to start, the village often threw out food, people Believing they were too good to eat a slightly misshapen price of bread. A thought cloud himself still couldn’t reason with, although it certainly helped him though the long winters. The first bin he finds by the bakery had 5 pieces of this bread, some squished and some just baked into an unappealing shape just as he reaches in to pluck the first piece out he feels a terrible sharp tug at the base of his tail, turning around horrified he is met with the face of not one, but three alpha men, angry scowled marring their faces. He had been so immersed with the thought of food, he hadn’t caught their smell or any sounds.
“What the fuck, are you doing girl” the first man asked using a tone cloud knows full well means trouble.
“Not talkin’ huh?” The next asks
“Hey wait… she looks familiar” the fat man at the back exclaimed sounding extremely confused at the situation.
Cloud could do nothing but look for an escape route out, he knew he couldn’t beat them in a fight, and he is not very good at talking seeming as the last time he did was when he was six years old to his mum, that was a solid ten years ago at least.
“Yeah… looks like that whore… what was her name, Claudia or something” the first man agrees
“Thought we killed her” the fat man replies
“We…did” the two others replied shocked
Cloud saw this as his chance to escape, he’s sure he can outrun these men with him being so small and agile compared to the tree men’s large builds, and with them being so surprised it leaves them with an opening.
He inhales deeply for a brief second, before darting forward with all his strength fitting easily between the alphas.
“HEY”
“GET HER”
“WAIT”
They all shout tripping over themselves to get to him.
But he doesn’t wait, he doesn’t slow down at all, his mothers words ‘never trust an alpha’ ringing in his head as his lungs burn and his legs grow tired, he doesn’t stop when he makes his way back up the steep ledge, he doesn’t stop at all until he’s back deep into mountain Forrest, until he’s at the long abandoned cave he has been calling home for the last few months.
SOLDIER POV
“Why are we here again” Genesis asks annoyed as he steps off the helicopter they have all been crammed into for the last five hours.
“Mayor reports a ‘monster’ who comes into the village and steals” sephiroth answers in a bored tone “obviously Shinra belie-“ he continues before Zack butts in
“Why would Shinra care about a random monster in a village like this”
Putting his hand on Zack’s head almost like calming down an excited puppy Angeal explained “Shinra have reason to believe that it’s not a monster, but an omega”
“WHAT” Zack screams before promptly shutting up when Genesis turns to glare at him.
“We are to rescue the omega and leave, before I lose the will to live” he says before storming off towards the huge house that the mayor obviously lives in, shrugging the other three follow their grumpy packmate.
It doesn’t take long walking though the village for them all to notice the hierarchy system that appeared to be going on in this town, the alphas were all grabbing their mates arms in almost a vicelike grip, the few omega women that could be seen were looking timidly down at their feet almost as though looking up would cause great offence. Angeal was sure that if this ‘monster’ was indeed an omega it had to of run off for a good reason, but his thoughts were cut short as the door to the house banged open and a short fat man with a cowboy hat stomped out.
“Sephiroth” he started stopping right in front of said man and bowing his head down in respect “I’m so glad you’re here we-“ he continued
before Genesis cut him off.
“What are we then, no greeting for us?” He asked
The mayor looked stunned for a moment at being called out
“I supposed I’ll leave then, if I’m not welcome” Genesis states whilst dramatically turning on his heel
“ONE MOMENT” cough “one moment please, I’m sorry I did not greet you I mean no harm, you are greatly needed here sir” the mayor calls in a panic.
“There has been a monster around here, it’s been here for many years, only, last night me and two of my men cornered it, we did not manage to catch the bloody thing but we were close.” He explained “and you see… I was not exactly truthful, it’s an omega, we never called before because of this fact, but this…this omega is indeed a monster, it’s a boy, a male, when we first discovered it about twelve years ago we tried to get rid of it, we sadly only got the mother we were sure it would die out there, but it appeared not”
“You are sure it’s male” Angeal asks
“Positive, it’s a carbon copy of its mother, but a boy 100%” the mayor explained.
“Interesting” Genesis tapped his chiselled chin “and you want to kill it, simply because it’s a boy” he asked unimpressed
“It’s a monster!” The mayor answered with no hesitation he clearly thought the statement was true.
“We will track him down” sephiroth stated “do you have anything with his sent on?” He continued
“Yes last night… it leant over this” the mayor said holding out a old piece of cloth
“Stop calling him an it” Zack muttered under his breath before being slapped across the back of his head by Genesis
“That’s all we need” the read head exclaimed grabbing it.
