Chapter Text
Spending his summer by the sea in Lavender Cove, after a fateful accident at work, was nothing Harry had really planned. He also didn’t plan to meet the lifeguard with the captivating blue eyes and the curious, curly dog.
He came to find peace but ended up finding happiness instead.
Or, if happiness comes in form of Louis Tomlinson, welcome it with open arms.
It feels like just yesterday we were editing the final words of our last fic, and yet, here we are, ready to share another piece of our hearts with you.
This story began with a simple tweet. “Surfshop au when” - Three little words that pulled us in. Aware that we didn't have a clue about the subject matter, it was this moment that sparked the initial idea, a seed that blossomed into this story and ended, funnily enough, without any surfshop.
Suddenly vacation days were spent brainstorming, late nights were filled with typing, and countless evenings were dedicated to crafting the perfect scenes. Every character, every location, every plot twist – they all whispered their story to us and captivated us from the very beginning.
We never imagined it would grow to over 100,000 words, but somehow, it just kept unfolding, layer by layer, revealing new depths and complexities.
We're all the more incredibly grateful for our beta reader team - never change a winning team - P, Sarah, and Liz. With your keen eyes and helpful suggestions, you helped polish this story to a shine, and we couldn't have done it without your support and encouragement.
Thank you, P, for knowing us too well and predicting that we wouldn’t be able to keep this story short. Thank you for being our first reader and our biggest support and for being as sad as we were when we reached the end. There is no way we could have done it without you enduring our constant talk and teasing. We live you more than writing! Thank you so much for selling fruits to our fruity guys.
Thank you, Sarah, for being a patient editor. Thank you for instantly agreeing when we asked you to help us again. Thank you for finding typos and grammar errors and for bringing in your ideas from an outside perspective. We appreciate your work very much!
Thank you, Liz, we loved your reviews and reactions to our story so much! It’s so fun watching others read your work and you did an excellent job in giving us your animated feedback. We knew we could count on you!
And last but not least, we’d like to thank Hannah. It was your tweet that gave us the initial idea and without it, we wouldn’t be writing this author's note right now. We hope you'll enjoy every twist, turn, and heartfelt moment as much as we did creating them.
So, lovely reader, grab a cup of tea, settle in, and get ready to explore the world of Lavender Cove through our lens. We hope you like where we've taken it and in the end you’ll be just as keen as we are to spend a life-changing summer in this small town. This story is for you, for us, and for the magic of storytelling that binds us all. As always, remember to treat people with kindness, the world needs it more than ever.
But now buckle up, dive into our world, and let us take you on a journey -
Welcome to Lavender Cove…
