Beep……….Beep…………Beep
Beep……….Beep…………Beep
Beep……….Beep…………Beep
The smell of rubbing alcohol and the lights assaulted his senses while his throat burned as if he hadn’t had anything to drink for weeks. What…Where..?
His eyes slowly began to flutter open, the clear crisp view of the ceiling tile coming into view. Were the tiles always that textured?
Beep……….Beep…………Beep
The monitor growled loudly in his ears. Beep……….Beep…………Beep. A slight groan escaped his lips as tried to turn over to put the blanket over his head and cover his ears, why is everything so loud?
The door clicked open and Izuku wanted to tell them to go away or to be quiet but a voice spoke softly, “Izuku Midoriya my name is Shota Aizawa, I’m here to speak with you about a few things.”
Izuku didn’t answer.
He covered his ears harder in an attempt to block out the noise. Everything felt like it was dialed up to ten and he wanted it all to just stop or slow down. “Too much…”
His voice was barely a whisper but it felt like he was screaming. The blanket gets lifted a little and red eyes peer into Izuku’s and he tries to erase his quirk but when Izuku’s eyes squeeze shut and his hands are still pressed to his ears he realizes this is some type of mutant quirk. Shota whispers as quietly as he can, “How can I help you?”
“Too…loud…too…bright…everything…too…much.”
Shota stands and moves over to the lights and dims them slowly before moving over to the machines, lowering the volume to try and help Izukus’ heightened senses. “Is this better, Midoriya?”
“A..little…thank…you…” A small voice says from under the covers, before faded green hair pokes up from the creme colored hospital issued blanket.
“Izuku,” Aizawa starts slowly, his voice low, “I want to start by asking how are you feeling?”
Izuku pulls himself out from under the blanket, his eyes quickly adjusting to the darkened room and takes in the man's appearance, his black hair was pulled into a loose bun, his eyes were a red that instantly reminded him of Kacchans’ and he was dressed mostly in black. This was the Erasure Hero Eraserhead. Izuku had studied him since he first found out there was a hero that basically fought quirkless, he idolized him just as much as he did All Might.
Why was he here in his room? Oh..that’s right, he's not in his room.
The memory of the roof hits him and he visibly shutters as he remembers Kacchan’s curses being the last thing he hears before everything faded away. He had finally listened to what people had been saying since he was four years old and was diagnosed as quirkless. But only it didn’t work and he woke up in the hospital, eraserhead must have saved him.
“I’m thirsty…I feel different.” Izuku answers Aizawa’s question, his voice coming out scratchy and almost inaudible.
Izuku watches as Shota walks over to the door and calmly waves a nurse over to the door, “Do you think we can get some ice chips and a doctor in here?”
The nurse nods before moving away from the door, disappearing down the hallway. Aizawa sits back down on the chair he was sitting in and states lowly, “Hopefully we can get you something to eat as well once the doctor comes in and checks you out.”
It didn’t take long before for the nurse to come in with ice chips, a doctor following closely behind her. As soon as Izukus’ eyes locked onto the ice chips his body lurched forward and faster than anyone could blink his body collided with the wall, the alarms screaming as all the wires hooked to his body were ripped out. Instinctively his hands went to his ears to block out the sound.
“Quick shut it off, he has enhanced senses.”
The nurse quickly unplugs the monitor and the bed and the shrill screaming stops and after it stops ringing in the teens ears he slowly removes his hands. Green eyes slowly opened and confusion instantly found its way to his face, how did I get over here?
He looked to Aizawa and then to the doctor and the nurse and they held the same look of confusion as he did. He slowly brought his hands up as they shook a little, what the hell is happening to me?
The nurse was the first to move as she helped Izuku up from the floor, “Come on kiddo, lets get you back into bed.”
Once he’s back into bed, she hands Izuku the ice chips cup and proceeds to tuck the blanket around him like a mother does for her child and then takes his vitals while the doctor speaks, “Hello, Mr. Midoriya, how are you feeling?
“Thirsty and hungry but otherwise fine.” He states a bit more clearer, the ice chips he started to munch on helping his throat.
The doctor glances down at the chart in his hands before continuing, “I see here it states in your file that you were diagnosed as quirkless but based on your changed appearance and you display just a few moments ago it seems that is no longer true. It seems that your suicide attempt has brought on what some scientists call a quirk awakening.”
Izuku could only stare at the doctor, a blank look on his face. All his life he was told that he was quirkless but now? Now he had a quirk? Quirk awakenings were just myths. “I…I don’t understand sir.”
“Under certain bouts of stress dormant mutant type quirks have known to present themselves.” The doctor explains, “Somewhere in your genes you had a hidden dormant quirk laying in wait so when you were dying after hitting your head on the concrete it fully activated.”
Izuku looks down at the cup of ice in his hands, “We don’t know exactly what this quirk entails that's why we’ve intrusted you to the care of Mr. Aizawa here. He won’t be able to cancel out your quirk but he is trained in helping teens with out of control quirks.”
“But what about my mom?” Izuku asks as he locks eyes with Shota, “Where’s my mom? Why isn’t she here?”
Shota’s shoulders tense for a quick second before returning to a neutral posture, Izuku normally wouldn’t have noticed but with his heightened sense he caught it instantly, “Izuku I’m sorry but your mother has gone missing.”
No…No…No…No…That can’t be….She…
Green eyes started to flicker back and forth, a red hue starting to slowly creep into the viridescent. Izuku’s entire world started to crash all around him. Tunnel vision started creeping in as everything blurred into nothingness, cold creeping in as the rain started to soak through the hospital issued clothes. The darkness chasing the light from the park bench he found himself sitting on as the sun set.
Kacchan hates the rain…
