In September 1965, the movie Who Killed Teddy Bear? is playing at The Nightly Double.
In the drive in, Cherry Valance has a plan to finally make Dallas Winston notice her, to finally be his girlfriend now that Sylvia is exposed for the cheater she is.
Instead, Ponyboy Curtis shows up to the drive in, looking for an escape from his grief, from his pain. Dallas Winston catches his scent, and his eye.
None of them know that by the next morning, the Soc Johnny Cade will be dead all because Dallas Winston decides that maybe he should be kissing Ponyboy Curtis, instead of Cherry Valance.

Summary
When Paul enters the study, Darry is drinking beside the fireplace, and that's what he focuses on first as he shuts the wooden doors behind him. "You've been drinking a lot lately."
"I think I earned it," Darry replies, voice even, cool. That's a good indicator of where he is and Paul takes the time to take in the study. It's very Darry: neat, orderly. Papers in the right places, clipped and put together. There's a dull fire going, books on the shelves, the carpets arranged neatly, the chairs put exactly in the correct place. Nothing out of order except, well, Darry.
Paul crosses over the floor, unbuttoning his shirt, loosening his tie. Darry's scent mingles well with the cologne and the faint woodsmoke. There are still bits of Darry's father and mother in the room: his mother's favorite glass is in his hand, the Cognac he's drinking is his father's. "Did you?"
An annoyed sigh leaves Darry, and he looks at Paul, eyes glinting, sharp. "Paul, I don't want to play games, tonight. Not now. You— you know what day it is."
Paul speaks to his husband. It's a negotiation, as all things are in life.

Summary
Who thought that'd be him, doing that for a mate? That stories he hadn't believed — that having a mate could calm him, that being near them could really make him feel that he was exactly where he needed to be — were all true. All of it is real, Dallas feeling that calm he hadn't experienced until Ponyboy settling on him all at once as he watches.
A golden moment in 1981.

Summary
Idly, his hand pushes up the blue gingham dress Ponyboy's been wearing all day further up, to expose more of him.
Laundry day always meant Ponyboy would be in a dress, and Dallas never, ever got tired of seeing Ponyboy in one, hurrying to help him put clothes on the line or wash it by hand. Visiting Taissa was just a bonus, showing Ponyboy off to the other alpha, letting her see a bit of what she couldn’t touch.
A fun summer fuck between Ponyboy and Dallas in the 1970s.

Summary
"Sometimes…. Just sometimes wish I could write to them. Let them know I ain't dead." His thumb runs along Dallas' own. "Tell 'em I'm happy, that I love you."
That's an impulse that Dallas will never get completely, even if it's been decades. There have been times where Ponyboy's broken, cried after a reminder of his brothers: someone with Soda's smile, someone who had that sharp tone of Darry's or his build. Times where Ponyboy has woken from a nightmare and Dallas knows it's about how he had killed the Cade kid, Ponyboy momentarily tensing up, afraid before the rest of him remembered everything else. Even if they've become less, faded over time, he can't forget Ponyboy telling him that he couldn't make them stop.
He can't make the nightmares stop, can't stop feeling for his brothers, his parents.
It's 1983, in a small town in Texas. Ponyboy and Dallas ran anyway after Johnny Cade was killed and now, the law has come to collect them, whether they want to go or not.

Summary
Truthfully, he wants to go back home, to Mission. He wants to tend to the calves, work beneath the sun alongside Dallas or the farmhands. And then he wanted to make dinner, draw a bath with Dallas, and go to bed with him, the way he used to do months ago.
He can't do any of that, so he concentrates on the neglected box in front of him, filled to the brim with clothes. Not just any clothes, but his mother's clothes.
Ponyboy, at home, unwillingly.
