"She’s shoving her hair out of her eyes, pressing at the bruises around her neck, clawing at the tight, tight, awful denim around her knees, and clenching her jaw. There’s another flash of red light in the sky, and it makes Robin feel like death has pinched her ribs with cold, grassy fingers, and oh, she’s drowning in her own body. There’s an incessant crackling coming from not that far off, and it makes Robin’s vision go all foggy. A gasp is torn from her lips, followed by a groan, and Robin feels her guts roiling as the blood from her nose spirals into her throat. Her whole body lurches, writhes, and turns itself inside out.
