The question that inspired me to write this? Looking at Captain America: The First Avenger, ask yourself, "what if Steve failed?"
What if he failed to stop the Red Skull? Never boarded the Valkyrie? Died on the ground? Schmidt's bombing campaign proceeds uncontested. In less than a day, the world changes. Cities fall, governments collapse, panic ensues. How does the story go, when the first Avenger is the last? And from his failings, who rises up? Humanity is like the dirt under your nails. Can't get rid of it. In this AU, that holds true. But what becomes of this world is vastly different to the world we see in the MCU.
This fanfic launches the MCU's multiverse era earlier. Set in 2018, two years after the events of Captain America: Civil War, and months before the events of Avengers: Infinity War. But this reality it steps into is different, beyond Steve's failure. In this reality, history itself is changed. The Eternals never come to Earth, stunting humanity's development. Odin's conquest of the Nine Realms rages on, and Thor is never born. This reality lags behind, by about 50 calendar years. And the story picks up, 26 years after Hydra wins.

Dokja was the only reader of an unpopular apocalyptic web novel: Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse. This novel became reality as soon as the author finished writing it, and Dokja became very powerful because he was the only one who knew the story. Because of his knowledge, he has special abilities, such as reading insights about other characters, borrowing their skills, and psychological shielding from the horrors taking place around him.
The relationship between story and reader is changing. Their dialogue is rich with humor, wit, and philosophical musings, exploring the intersection of fiction and reality through AI. It raises thought-provoking questions about the role of AI in literature, psychology, and the future of humanity.
