The dimension was a long shot, a version of Chris he simply couldn't compete with, trying to fill shoes that were two sizes too big. Chris knew Adrian felt different towards him, what that "different" was is loosely defined. Adrian's eyes glimmered around Chris, a look full of love, adoration. Chris could see it, but since those eyes were only for him, he took it for granted.
He asked Leota a time ago. “Adrian and those puppy dog eyes, makes you feel bad for ‘m.”
“What?” She asked with a laugh. “Adrian? Every time he’s ever looked at me he looks like he could bite my head off. It’s like he’s looking through me.”

Chris has always known this whole ‘perfect alternate universe’ thing was going to blow up in his face. Thing is, he’d always sort of assumed it’d come about because someone would find him out – there’d be some sort of missing birth mark or a gotcha memory or maybe his ARGUS would figure out the door code and somehow follow him out here, start a war, cause their universes to collide and implode or some shit. Or maybe it’d be something more lowkey – like all the music sucked, or zoodles weren’t a thing, or eagles were banned, or some shit.
He never figured it’d be on him to blow shit up. He’s also pretty sure no one could have seen this one coming.

Adrian wishes he was the one who killed Chris’s dad.
Well, obviously. Adrian always wishes he was the one who got to kill every bad guy. Like, when he found out Osama bin Laden was dead, he was kind of disappointed.
But this is a different thing. Adrian got to kill plenty of other Nazis that day—more than Peacemaker, actually, he’d like to point out—so it’s not really about missing out. It’s more like, he wishes he just got it together and murdered Chris’s dad in that prison. Or maybe a long, long time ago. Then maybe Chris wouldn’t be acting like this.
