The FINAL installment of "The Red Crayon," an AU where Michael got adopted instead of Max. Michael's name is Max and Max's name is Michael. This is Part 5 of the series which focuses on the events of Season 4. Officer Max Evans is in love with Alex and cowboy Michael is in love with Liz. There is A LOT of deviation from canon. Mostly around ALEX BEING MORE IN IT. And no Sh*vani. The chapters will not perfectly reflect their episode number counterparts like previous fics in this series. (But as always, each chapter title is based on a song from my Malex TSwift playlist.)
In RNM 2x09, we learned from the Sheriff that in the group home, young Max was screaming and drawing all over the walls with a red crayon. Michael tried to calm him down and took the crayon from him. Then, the Evans' came in and saw Michael, assumed he was disturbed and so they adopted Max and Isobel. This is an AU- Canon Divergent- where Michael never takes the red crayon and instead, HE gets adopted. Their personalities and powers are the same, but their names and life experiences are different.
