Akira was fast asleep when a soft knock at the door jolted him awake. He groggily glanced at the clock—way too late for any normal visitor. But when he opened the door, his eyes widened in surprise.
Akechi stood there, a suitcase in hand, looking far too calm for someone who had just shown up unexpectedly.
“I... I didn’t expect you tonight,” Akira mumbled, still half-dazed.
Akechi smiled, his usual smugness in place, though his eyes held something softer.
“I had no choice but to drop by,” Akechi said smoothly. “I need somewhere to stay for the night.”
Akira hesitated, his mind racing with a dozen reasons to say no. But in the end, he couldn’t find the words. He stepped aside, letting Akechi in without protest.

If Goro is to get used to this Akira, then he wants to drop the pretense.
He wants to accuse Akira of being a hallucination arising from some latent moral nerve that has finally sprung up, to torture him in the interregnum following the final underwhelming downfall of his father - something a self destructive firing in his basal ganglia came up with to occupy him due to some fatalistic instinct to always be gnashing his teeth against life. He wants to tell Akira he knows he is only a malevolent ghost trying to haunt him, a literal phantom at last, prepared to steal the rest of his life from him by trying to drive him to suicide - but Akira will inevitably grow bored because that is never going to happen, so he might as well quit now. He wants to ask him, nicely, if he is some other supernatural cognitive manifestation arising from the Metaverse or whatever, and whether there is a permanent way to get rid of him.
But he does not want to kill him again.
