All of them, including Worthy and Jolt, looked to Olvan. Olvan looked at the great tree in front of him. “Well,” with the help of Abeke he stood. “Let’s go find out what the Evertree wants to tell us.”

100 years ago the First Devourer War was fought at the base of the Evertree. That war changed the course of Erdas. As the blood of the bodies and the metal of their devices and weapons leached into the Evertree. The Evertree warped and now Spirit Animal bonds, called Videl Bonds, are different.
Erdas is a different place from what we knew. The Fallen return now, as War looms over the horizon.

Keep it together, Conor thought to himself. It was easier said than done when Rollan’s nails immediately dug marks into his hand. Conor tried to focus on the warmth that his hand brought, instead of the pain. When Conor adjusted to the sting enough to trust himself to speak without strain, he spoke.

Knowing how class systems and corporal punishment works, I find it hard to believe that Conor’s time with the Trunswicks didn't leave more... lasting damage. Also taking into consideration how truly awful Devin was to him, I'd say what we've got here is the perfect storm for loads and loads of ✨️trauma✨️

Soft golden blonde locks of hair brush against his cheeks as she leans forward to press a ghost of a kiss to his forehead. He wrinkles his nose. “Oh, Devin,” she murmurs into his skin, “you look so much like your father.”

Time is limited in Erdas.
With the devourer’s army rising and two nations already deteriorated to the grasps of Gerathon and the Conquerors, battle is the only thing lingering in Greenhaven’s halls, like the remnants of smoke subsequent to a fire. No one is safe from the bitter doubts and fears.
Even with these circumstances, even with the burden of battle weighing him down each day, Parek oddly finds himself enjoying it. Bloodied knuckled and scarred, the five he may name family still pull a smile on his lips.
How pathetic is that?

He will never stop hearing Rollan’s voice, fragments of that horrible moment flooding back to him as he curls up against Briggan’s battered body, clinging onto rust-stained fur through his tears as the wolf laps gently at his raw cheek. He’s changed and the most important person in the world to him doesn’t like it and he doesn’t think he can change that, sobbing into Briggan as the words wash over him.
