Summary
Robby turns back taking a swing. It’s instinct; it’s not deliberate. It’s all the pent-up anger, all the emotions of the last ten months, that he knew were eating him up inside and that he didn’t want released. That’s why he wanted his last day in The Pitt to be the day before Langdon’s return, not coinciding with it. But someone fucked up scheduling. And here they are.

Now Dana knew something was up. “Okay, Langdon, what is it?” That was Dana for you; firm and direct, but not unkind.
“It’s-” He paused and contemplated his word choice. “Just…promise you won’t make fun of me?”
“I will if you deserve it.”

Summary
At eight years old, Frank Langon was dealt a shit hand in life. Dead parents, six foster families in five years, and now cancer on top of it all...
-----
"Did you find a foster?”“No.” Casey glanced through the window into the room. Frank faced away from them, but they could see the gentle rise and fall of his chest. “No one will take him. He’s going to have to stay here for treatment.”
“Can I foster him?” It was out of his mouth before he even realized. Sure, he wanted to ask, but he didn’t want to sound too eager about it. Casey gave him a withering, suspicious glare and he found himself rambling. “I want to. He’s a sweet kid, and I’m a doctor! I’m prepared to take care of him. And I live with my sister who is in school to be a doctor, too. And we have an accessible bathroom already, for after his surgery. My whole house is accessible! Ramps for wheelchairs and all one level. And! It’s a good neighborhood.”
“You got an ulterior motive?” Casey asked, thankfully cutting him off.
Robby hesitated. Her frown hardened and the words spilled out of him, “We clicked. He’s a good kid. I—I wanna adopt him.”

Summary
“Don’t start with me,” Frank says, “it’s fine, I know my limits.” Yolanda is about to start with him because that’s a fucking joke, but it’s 7:31 and Robby is calling for him – the nursing home patients are right on time.
He sits up, swings his legs off the side of the bed, and cracks his neck. She cringes.
“Could you at least try to avoid breaking any more vertebrae?” He actually laughs at that, so it can’t be that bad yet.

“Forty-seven seconds.”
“What?” Frank turned around to face Whitaker. He’d forgotten the kid had been in the room too.
Whitaker bit his lip before speaking again. “You held your breath for forty-seven seconds. Most people lose consciousness before a full minute of apnea.”

They winced a little at their legal name, “Well I go by Frankie actually, good to meet you Mel.” They stuck their hand out (why what are you doing) and Mel grabbed their hand, soft and a little cold but a solid handshake. Summary
Frank knows he has an issue. He’s been trying to get through it for a while but it’s hard, really really hard. He’s reliant on things he knows he shouldn’t be. But after everything he’s been through he’s proud he’s not reliant on worse things. When he hurt his back months ago he wasn’t prepared for the pain to still be happening now. His brothers weren’t surprised.
Frank’s brothers were all younger than him, yet most had joined the family before he did. There was tension there, he felt left out and like he had missed out on having an actual family growing up. He still loved them all though. And now that Robby’s found out about his issue, maybe it's time to get back in contact with them. He’d been avoiding it since the accident but now seems like the time for him to ask for help. Easier said than done but he can at least try.

If Robby knew he'd be needing to type the word "defenestration" in a worker's comp report, he would have called in sick. If Frank knew that he would be the subject of that report? He definitely would have called in sick.

Summary
Christmas Eve night shift was always a place of wonders. Folklore promised animals would speak, but all Frank heard was the usual chorus of wailing, cursing, and the occasional drunken carol. Patients were as rattled as ever, and none of them wanted to be there - though, to be fair, neither did he.
And neither did Santos.

Summary
He gave them a few moments, but the second he raised his hand, the room fell silent. Robby took a breath, steady and slow. He had to choose his words carefully.
"It's been a hell of a night. I know some of you saw parts of what happened, and others are only hearing rumors. So let me clear it up." His jaw tightened for just a second before he continued. "At around 18:35 earlier today, an armed man entered the ED…”
