Summary
Harry wanted to live, though he knew what he valued in life was little and unlikely to accept him now, but he had no choice but to walk to his death. The memories of times he spent with Ron and Hermione keeping him company as he dropped the stone.
The station he was in after being hit by the killing curse was oddly familiar, he thought he might have been there before; reminded of a few times he had vivid dreams of a train station after especially bad punishments, but then Dumbledore appeared and spoke to him.
He needed to go back, and in a way he was glad, but there were so many people he had used the idea of meeting or seeing again to make himself accept his destiny. It hurt to not be able to see them.

Harry is depressed after Sirius' death and returning to Hogwarts has only made him feel worse. After an incident on the Astronomy tower, Harry realises that no one is going to save him so he saves himself and runs away, giving a big "fuck you" to all the adults in his life.
Basically, Harry is so so done with being hurt and sad all the time so he gets a bit vengeful and mad (fair enough, right?) and runs away to the Chamber of Secrets first, then to Grimmauld.
Probably not going to be a long story. Still thinking about it. -

Harry cried himself to sleep in his cupboard, the cleaning supplies taking up most of the space, there was no comfortable position for him to be in, both because of the cramped space, and the smarting cuts and aching bruises covering him. The stool he was standing on had slipped, causing him to fall face first into the side by the sink, spilling the soapy water on the floor, and making his lip bleed as he accidentally bit his lip badly.
That alone would have been enough for him to be hurting, but he hadn't managed to clean up the water on the floor, or even knew he had left blood on the counter that he had to deal with, when Vernon came home. Harry had had no hope of fixing the stool he had been standing on though, no matter how much time he had been given.
Harry had given up hope by now that he would ever be happy with the Dursleys, and had learnt how little he could disturb the water without repercussions, but he had yet to give up hope that someone would come to take him away.
Suddenly, with a wave of warmth, Harry found himself somewhere beautiful, it felt safe, it felt like home. But he was far too dirty for a place like this.
Harry knew he shouldn't be here.

Harry was always in harms way, always the centre of attention. While Ron was jealous of him, Harry hated it, he was never able to have a normal life, not even before Hogwarts, treated as nothing more than a slave.
Dumbledore had always known that if he let the prophecy run its course, it was more than likely the child would suffer for it. So he came up with a plan.
Rather than the Boy Who Lived being in the public eye, he took another child, made him look like the boy, and made him act as Harry until he died, when the real one would reenter the wizarding world, capable of bringing Voldemort down, and loyal enough to give the victory to him.
The early chapters were written a while ago and I have recently come back to it to update it, but I can't be bothered to completely rewrite it.
