Morgan reached up, brushing a thumb across Reid’s cheek. “You’ll know when it’s over.”
Reid leaned into the touch, closing his eyes. “I don’t want to wait for the end to know you’re okay.”
Morgan wrapped his arm around him and pulled him back into his chest.
Reid pressed his face into Morgan’s neck. “Please don’t go.” He almost whimpered.
Morgan took in a deep breath. “I have to.”

Essentially, this is every "What if X was a villain?" fic taken to its logical extreme. Every Hero is a Villain, and every Villain is a Hero.
