Summary
Hannibal awoke with a gasp, his body convulsing as he coughed, the taste of blood lingering on his tongue, phantom and bitter. Sweat drenched his skin, his silk pajamas clinging to him like a second, suffocating flesh. The room was dark, a cavern of shadows broken only by the occasional flicker of lightning through the curtains, illuminating the familiar contours of his Baltimore bedroom. His bedroom—how?

They were dancing. It wasn’t unusual for them these days. What was more unusual, though, was the absolute ease in which they graced the crowded patio of the Cuban restaurant. After three years on the run, which consisted of far more carefree mornings on the terrace and comfortable evenings by the fire than would be expected, they had yet to fully test the waters of the public sphere.
Hannibal & Will are settled in Cuba after the events of the Dragon. They go out dancing one night and end up catapulting their relationship into brand new territory.

When he spoke, the sounds came in a slow string, each placed carefully after the last. “For a while, I didn’t even think about you. No matter how often you tried to enter the foyer of my mind, I always turned you away.”
“Difficult, isn’t it? Our palaces share so many rooms. So many entrances for me. Or you.”
“Like cutting off a limb,” Will murmured, voice low.
“Like cutting out a heart.”

Summary
"Will Graham was probably Hannibal's youngest patient. Now, normally he wouldn't see children—his demographic more so aimed at older individuals, more refined, wealthier—but the boy's father had been pathetically desperate. And Hannibal couldn't help but say yes—the scent of such desperation something he couldn't resist. It intrigued him, appealing to his darker curiosity. What was this man so desperate about? What, he wondered, could drive a father to the edge of such pleading? And it was then revealed—the child."
A story in which Hannibal develops an obsession with ten-year-old Will, his new patient. Envy, divine entitlement, and righteous justice ensue to correct a biological accident.

Summary
Through the wide kitchen window, Hannibal’s gaze drifts to Will, swimming laps in the pool. The water catches the sunlight, fragmenting it into a thousand dazzling shards around Will’s lean form. His strokes are strong, deliberate, his body cutting through the water with a grace that still stops Hannibal’s breath. Five years ago, they plummeted into the Atlantic, broken and bleeding, yet somehow emerged whole. Hannibal thinks of that first meeting in Jack Crawford’s office—Will, the rudest man he’d ever encountered, all sharp edges and guarded eyes, yet the most beautiful, with a mind that sparkled like a blade catching light. Hannibal memorized every detail that day: the way Will’s lips curled slightly when he spoke, the faint crease between his brows when he argued, the cadence of his voice, rough yet melodic. He was a storm wrapped in skin, and Hannibal was captivated, his heart irrevocably claimed.

He didn't ask for any of this. Yet it seems to be spelling his downfall.
