Lips pressing to the back of his hand, he apologizes for sending Rudy into that house alone.
He kisses each of his fingers before unfurling them to kiss their calloused pads; every kiss confesses that he should’ve gotten there sooner and begs for forgiveness because Rudy almost died alone.
A kiss to his scraped-up palm is his repentance for somehow making Rudy think that the mission meant more than his life. He carefully closes Rudy’s fingers, curling them around the kiss as if he could hold onto the fleeting warmth left by Alejandro’s lips.

Rudy has a seizure from soot causing his airways to swell up and preventing enough oxygen from getting into his system. It's scary, terrifying and Alejandro was helpless but to watch. He could no longer deny that he loves him, he loved him so much. And he will not waste anymore time and just confess to him when he wakes.

Love this so much! I hope we get some more info on when Alejandro starts to realize he's in love with Rudy too.
I'm always of the thought that he's thick headed like un burro and it takes him entirely too long to put the pieces together because unlike girls, guys have always been in the friends only camp for him. Maybe it happened quietly one morning when he made Rudy laugh full body and that dazzling smile, how the man's eyes seem to smile with it.
But I digress.
