"Oh, you sweet creature."
He’s dreaming about some maiden he’s in love with, Iago guessed sourly. It was most likely about Bianca, a resident of the village nearby. Iago had seen the woman following Cassio around in the streets, doting upon him like a puppy. It was sickening. Iago hadn't realized that Cassio returned Bianca's feelings.
"No one can know... let's keep our love a secret."
Cassio was now sighing longingly in his sleep. Iago carefully adjusted the position of his arms to be more comfortable and draped Cassio's cloak over him. Lulled by the lapping waves and the warm body resting on his chest, Iago began to drift off to sleep. Just as he was tipping over the brink of unconsciousness, he heard one more dreamy utterance from Cassio, something so quiet that he couldn’t tell if it was real or imagined.
"I love you, Iago."

An extra scene I've written to give Iago a little more depth, and also because I'm too butthurt about how nice things could've been if Iago wasn't a spiteful demon. Also giving him trauma because justification is important.

Iago smiles inwardly, "Is't possible, my lord?" Othello lunges forward, seizes Iago by the collar and forces him to the wall. Iago, breathless, watches him blankly.
Othello seems to have knocked whatever sense Iago had out of him, because all he can do is marvel at the fury he seems to have brought out in him.

Ian sighs, having acquiesced to both his thoughts and Roddy's plea. “Fine, if you insist.”
Roderick momentarily stops his wallowing to throw Ian a look of confusion. “Huh?”
Ignoring him, Ian takes his phone out of his pocket and prepares to pull on some strings. “You see, poor Roderick, I happen to know a lot of people, most of which are friendly acquaintances.”
“. . .ok? I don't see why you have to rub it in—”
“That means that I have enough connections to,” he sighs, “set you up on a date.”

Roderick's attempts at romance have begun edging towards the pitiful end of the spectrum, and Iago, annoyed at his whining, decides to help.

Iago's mind raced as he sat amidst the coldness of his jail cell. After his crime, they would most likely see to torture him for information, but he refused to speak anything again. What they saw as a crime, he saw as justice. Justice that was meant to be served. Hours, days, weeks passed. He was left alone with only himself, with they occasional tray of slop that was slid through the small crevice of the door. He didn't dare eat it. Didn't dare open his mouth.
As he sat, he thought back to what started this all, what got him here. Of course- it was betrayal.
Maybe they didn't see it as betrayal, but Iago had never felt so crossed.
