You might think a life of constant fighting is hard, but when surprise attacks come and go with no one to fight, when the enemy operates undetected, when you can't even tell who IS the enemy, Ben may find it harder to just sit and wait for the next disaster to hit. It's even worse if there's no one left to wait with him. Because then, he waits in silence.
