Someone’s speaking Hindi into a phone, and it’s a bit too fast for Chris to follow properly (he’s still learning, lessons paid for by the agency), but he hears enough to conclude that the conversation isn’t work, it’s about Kohli’s batting average in India’s recent series against Sri Lanka.

Fic exchanges are glorious things. The prompt was the entirely beautiful and genius, "Titch and Woakes fight crime". This is sort of the prologue to that story.
