Summary
This fic has four overlapping yet distinct arcs:
Arc One: Four years after Sam Arias becomes the Director of the DEO, and two years after she marries Kara's sister, Kara finds a woman with psychic powers in an evil lair and secretly brings her home. As her new companion slowly remembers things, Kara's sister-in-law and niece become more and more suspicious.
Arc Two: A failed assassination attempt leads to Kara and her new wife adopting four children who are more closely entwined with their pasts and futures than either realize, and Kara learns her Aunt Astra is also on Earth-- a discovery which makes her headaches far more frequent...
Arc Three: What the actual fuck happened on Krypton?
Arc Four: The rise of the House of Kieran-El.

Kara waved her hand like she was waving away that thought,
“--Anyhow I just wanted to run by and um bid you an ‘ello--”
Kara peered behind the shorter girl into the house and saw no movement. Not the hearty laugh of an old man or a cluttering of objects for kids.
“--you alone ma’am?”
The noble raised an eyebrow at the comment purposely calling out the possible connotations. Kara immediately flushed up even her ears turned a slight shade of pink,
“Oh golly! I don't possibly mean! Ge whizz!”
The blond covered her face with the hat to keep her little bit of dignity left. At this the other girl let out a slight giggle.

“When she was fourteen, Lena used to ride the elliptical in the gym after fencing. She’d turn on the TV to show some landscape in France, then bike as fast as she possibly could before her legs were nothing but jello and dust. Because for a split second, before she’d dissolve, she’d manage to convince herself that if she just tried hard enough, if she just went fast enough, she’d be able to throw herself into the screen. When she opened her eyes, she really would be in France.
But the problem with stationary bikes is that no matter how hard you pedal, you’ll never make any real movement. So Lena would push and push as fast as she could, then collapse at the starting line. The ground beneath her was still tainted and the air still stale. France was nothing but an image on a television, left there to taunt her.”
