"What. The. Fuck.
Those were Mike’s first thoughts after he finished listening to Juju. How could he have been missing out on this?! This music being hidden from him for so long was a crime! The first song, Spellbound, had gotten him hooked immediately. The song’s melody mixed with the singer’s voice was like a siren's call to Mike. Then Halloween being followed up by Monitor had Mike thinking he was in heaven and Siouxsie was the angels choir. By the time Fireworks was finished playing, Mike was ready to make Siouxsie his new religion.
Needless to say that night was filled with goth songs and mothers yelling to turn down music.
The next day was filled with neighbors complaining about the loud music and the yelling.”

Lucas almost dropped the walkie-talkie on Max, but held his grip. He stared at it, which was coming to life now quite defiantly, and he carefully held down the talk button.
“C-… Can you repeat that?” he asked shakily, his teeth bordering on chattering. He nearly threw the walkie-talkie up into the air when the voice spoke again. He had no idea who or what it was, but it wasn’t a woman’s voice, nor a young boy’s voice.
“You need to leave, now. Leave now, take your friends, and don’t look back. Don’t come back. Don’t ever think about this place again.”

Abandoned since the early nineties, Hawkins presents a challenge none of the four have ever seen, especially as the ghost of a young man appears, explaining he cannot cross over until he can reunite with his lost husband. The hammering heart subsides, as the sore, tired feeling comes back. Sniffing, as his eyes refill with tears, he rests back down on the bed, in a halted movement. He curls in on himself, as close to disappearing as he can, before reaching for the pillow, and pressing it over his head. The darkness, the quietness, collaborates with the hollowness of his mind, creating a peaceful, yet isolated concoction. Still, images flash through his mind in shock-waves.
The urge to go knock on Mike, or El, or Max’s door is barely resistible, as if an invisible string is pulling at him, but he’s gotten used to the string. He’s learned to ignore the sad, but hopeful pull at the back of his mind. The last time he gave into it, he was too weak to stamp down the innate impulse to make his problems someone else’s, and he’s not about to repeat that.
Or: The Party are in college now, and the gates have been closed for around a year. Will feels the need to hide how much he's struggling with the memories, and trauma. Mike notices. He always does. Throughout the year, their relationship strengthens, as Will learns accepting help isn't selfish, and Mike learns not to listen to people who make him feel like shit.
