Summary
Bobby opens the door and his jaw hits the floor as he comes face to face with Evan. Evan, his son, who was supposed to be safely tucked away in Hershey with his lovely sister and parents, the Buckleys. Evan, who looks like he hasn’t slept in days and is bearing the weight of the world on his small shoulders.
“So you know who I am,” the kid starts, his words drenched in bitterness. It breaks Bobby’s heart. This is his son. His son, who is glaring at him like he is the scum of the earth.
“Evan –” he starts, but the kid cuts him off.
“Look, I know you gave me up and didn’t want me, but you are my father. I hope you are not too much of an asshole to turn me away now. Please, may I come in? I will be out of your hair soon, I promise.”
Something in Bobby breaks at those words.

Evan Buckley was presumed dead after a week thanks to Phillip and Margaret Buckley.
He had fallen into the ocean when his line broke during a rescue, but the 118 weren't ready to give up on him. When he's found alive after thirteen days, things are different. His parents had decided they were done with his reckless behavior, Bobby and Athena were more obviously affectionate, and Chimney was determined to play matchmaker. Evan “Buck” Buckley didn’t choose El Paso. He didn’t choose his mother’s new husband, or the suffocating heat that makes everything feel louder—his grief, his anger, his loneliness.

Summary
When Evan was 18 years old, she learned that she had been sentenced to die since before she was born. On her 30th birthday, on the exact moment that she took her first breath, she would die a most horrible death. Overall she was okay with that as long as she managed to do two things before she died:
1) Save her sister from her abusive marriage.
2) Do the most good that she possibly could.
Once both of those things happened she would be happy with what she had done with her life. Maybe in her next life she would have better luck. That was all she could ever hope for. The odds of her breaking her unbreakable curse would be to find true love, let alone multiple kinds of true love; impossible.
Afterall, the universe had made it clear since before she had even been conceived that she was impossible to love. -

When you were shot, part of me died. I was so scared Eddie. And look I know you don’t like me saying that it should have been me, but it should have been. Because I tasted your blood, and I know that I will never forget that taste. I’ve tasted your blood but not your lips. It kills me to even think about it.
Because it reminded me that losing you isn’t something I’d survive.
