Summary
Aziraphale, a travelling storyteller, settles down in an idyllic village, but things aren’t as perfect as they seem. Criminals are sacrificed to a snake-demon that dwells in the mountain caves, and unfortunately for Aziraphale, his very nature makes him a criminal. He soon finds himself bound, gagged, and left to the mercy of a monster.
Meanwhile, the naga, Crowley, is wondering why humans are constantly being abandoned in his caves. Rescuing them is getting to be quite the ordeal, especially considering they can’t speak his language and they’re all terrified of him.

Aziraphale never intended for the summoning to work, not really. But he may have got a little excited upon discovering the original version of a ritual while working on restoring an old occult book. He just recreated the steps out of scientific curiosity, really. But when the summoning actually unexpectedly worked, at least it summoned a being who was nice about the whole thing.

Aziraphale is a noble centaur, tasked with gathering information so that the centaurs may protect humanity from all forms of monsters. But one particular outing leads Aziraphale much further away from his herd, to a mountain peak, where he discovers not everything that humans fear is monstrous.
The tales of a serpent-like creature that turns people to stone have been quite exaggerated. At least, Aziraphale thinks so, but he discovers much more than he bargained for.
