Uhtred was too young to fight alongside his brother in the ambush he had led against the Roman soldiers, or at least that was the excuse Ragnar had given him. Uhtred knew his brother feared what would happen to him if the Romans captured him in battle, it was said the Romans paid a high price for omega male slaves. Uhtred understood his brother was just trying to protect him, but he was not some cowering omega, he was a warrior. His brother's warriors had returned to the village victorious, they hadn't taken prisoners. Uhtred decided to visit where the battle transpired to see if there was anything valuable his brother's men hadn't looted off the dead.

At first Sihtric thought it was some sort of test that the older alpha was giving him to see if he could be trusted around his mate who he had only just sworn himself too. But then Uhtred had come looking for them and Sihtric could tell that the omega was in the early stages of heat. He hadn't been able to stop himself from growling.
