This story follows the TV show "The Last of Us" Season 2, specifically the characters of Ellie and Dina. It takes a deeper dive into their relationship and the smaller details of how they evolve throughout the series. Unlike the game and show, however, I put my spin on it for how I wish things would have ended. I hope you enjoy my take on their future and how it unfolds in Jackson, learning to grow with one another, becoming parents, and choosing to look for the light in the darkest of times.
Although I'm not new to fanfiction, having read it for years, this is my first time putting my pen to paper and writing it. I hope you enjoy this, and I look forward to writing more in the future! But Biltmore comes with its own history and its own dangers, and Ellie’s ghosts, Joel, Dina, Jackson, Santa Barbara, don’t disappear just because there’s a door that locks and a real bed. Jay also has a past that can still hurt people. Ellie has a future she isn’t sure she deserves.
Post–TLOU Part II, this fic follows Ellie and an FOC through a long road home, found family, suicidal ideation and recovery, PTSD, canon-typical violence, and the stubborn work of deciding to stay. Slow burn F/F, lots of feelings. -

After joining the WLF, Abby threw herself into her training and her purpose as a soldier. To push away her guilt, every Scar she slaughtered or tortured, she saw as her father's killer. It felt like enough, until 5 years passed and she finally got a new lead, causing her to uproot her old Firefly crew to track down the smuggler.
Mostly according to video game canon, some borrowed details from the TV show. Canon diverges after Abby and Owen's fight before Jackson. -

Against all her preconceptions about the woman, she does.
By now both of them have learned that the way forward isn’t by chasing the past, or running from it. But when forced to coexist in the same community, they have to at least confront it. For the sake of the people they love, they have to put it behind them once and for all.
And maybe, for the sake of themselves… build something new between them.
