That’s what Neil has learnt, the symbolism he’s been taught and has trusted because he was yet to find an example that proved it wrong. Until now.

Now the summer is at it's end, and the gang is reunited for their final year at Welton. -

Summary
Todd looked up from the script in confusion, thinking that maybe Neil hadn't heard the last part, so he repeated himself. "Uh, ye art thou there?"
Neil took one big step closer to Todd and screamed in his face with a big smile on his face. "PUT MORE INTO IT!"
For a moment, he thought his roommate wouldn't do it, but after a split second, Todd turned to the lake and screamed at the top of his lungs. "YE, ART THOU THERE?!" He held out the last 'E' and spinned around, his open cloak following around him like wings. Todd looked free and in Neil's eyes, so very handsome.
(or, a deleted scene of Neil and Todd rehearsing lines together by the river. What could've happened afterwards?)

Summary
Sometimes Neil thinks he's just as scared as he is. That Todd wants him too.
It's a foolish thought, really. Because if Todd wanted him he wouldn't push him away time and time again. Kissing and cuddling and having Neil like he's his. But never close enough for it to be mistaken for love.
Or: Neil wants Todd, but they're just casual.

Summary
Neil Perry didn’t ask to be Oscorp’s newest science experiment. One bite was all it took to flip his world upside down—now he's clinging to ceilings, dodging subway cars, and trying to keep his GPA from imploding.
But with great power comes... late-night bruises and a growing pile of secrets.
His best friend thinks he’s spiraling again. His lab mentor is hiding something in the basement. And Todd Anderson—quiet, brilliant, beautiful Todd—has started asking the wrong questions.
And Neil? He’s running out of ways to lie.

Summary
The red petals look like blood against the untouched snow, a testimony to the suppressed feelings that should’ve been put to rest together with him ten years ago. But burying emotions and lingering attachments is harder than burying a body. You can’t just dig a hole into the ice cold earth and let them remain six feet under, never to be felt again. He knows that’s not how it works, but it has never stopped him from trying anyways.

Summary
It works. For a little while, it works pretty fucking well. It isn't ideal, it never will be, but it's what they need and it's working.
So of course, something goes horribly wrong in what was meant to be a fool proof plan to gently extricate himself from Todd, even though it feels like peeling off his own skin. Todd starts initiating contact with him. In small ways of course, same as how Neil had done when they first met, but the roles are reversed and Neil thinks maybe he doesn't have to die to reach his special place in Hell, he's already living it.
Todd is...surprisingly touchy. Neil is...not quite coping.

Summary
As Neil fixed his tie in the bathroom mirror, pulling it so tight he was half-certain he'd asphyxiate before the night closed, he seriously regretted telling his father about Knox's connection to the Danburry's. Or, more specifically, Knox’s connection to one Dr. Danburry.
Alternatively;
Neil has a dinner scheduled with the Danburry's that he is absolutely not looking forward to. Little does he know that the dinner will have an extra guest attending—a "friend" of Ginny's from school, with sandy-blonde hair, powder blue eyes, and a notebook clutched to his chest.

Summary
Dear T.A.,
Your voice kept me company last night. You made me cry, in the best way.
Please read Neruda next?
—Neil (the 8AM guy)As a soft-spoken college student with too many thoughts and too little confidence, Todd finds solace in the quiet hours of his anonymous late-night poetry radio show, Between the Lines. He never expects anyone to really listen—until someone does.
Neil Perry is everything Todd isn't: charismatic, popular, and the energetic host of Rise & Shine, the campus morning radio show that everyone adores. But when Neil stumbles across Between the Lines, he becomes captivated by the unseen poet who reads like he’s speaking straight from the heart.
Sticky notes begin to appear. Song dedications follow. And as the snow falls heavier outside, two voices begin to find each other through the static.
An Anderperry story about poetry, vulnerability, and falling in love with someone before you even know their name.

Summary
Prologue
No one would see this note, Neil was already dead; but he wrote it, anyway. In his mind, at least. He always had an extraordinary imagination, Todd Anderson was fuel to the flame that was his creative mind. It was a shame it didn't last long. This note came soon after they met, only having been friends a few months.
