Summary
At twelve years old, the Hero of Legend nearly dies inside the palace of the Four Sword. Worlds away, the Hero of Lorule is saved by the ghost of a shadow. Opposites and equals in every way, the two boys are haunted by the Hero of Light’s legacy.
Life goes on, through love and war and the machinations of gods.
Shadow never expected to wake up again after shattering the Dark Mirror. Without the Hero he was created to follow, what’s the point of him? It’s a brave new world, and Shadow has no choice but to change with it, blissfully unaware of the Four Sword resting just below his feet.

The Hero's laugh seems to echo in time with the spell. "Maybe not."
"You'll die down here," Dark Link says as flatly as he can manage, "Your flesh will rot from your bones and you'll be nothing more than a smear along the wall."
"Like you?" the Hero asks, just as careful and meticulously cruel as the failure of a spell Dark Link cannot wield.

“I told you, I don’t know what you’re talking about,” you snap back, your perceived irritation due more to annoyance than genuine anger. That certainly doesn’t make the figures happier. They keep muttering amongst themselves, grumbling about how difficult you’re being. Well, the joke is on them, because you are, in fact, answering their questions best you can, just not in the way they want you to.
