“Same one,” Phainon answered. His voice felt heavy; scratchy from the assault on his throat earlier. Mydei exhaled behind him, taking the glass of water from his loosened grip, settling it back down to its designated space. Phainon’s eyes followed Mydei’s hand, watching as the water rippled in the glass, moved in waves by another hand… just like him, once upon a time… every ripple in the glass was not the water’s own choice…
And what if it still wasn’t?

Summary
Gently and slowly releasing his hand from Phainon’s soft grip, Mydei exhaled, rising to his feet only to sit next to him. Their shoulders brushed gently against each other, that warm, solid body briefly touched to his, granting him slightly more solace in Mydei’s physical presence than it likely should.
“Phainon.”
Mydei gently calls his name like a soft prayer, meant only in whispers to angels, and never to reach the ears of the gods. A gauntleted hand clears the wisps of snow-white hair on face in clandestine kindness; a gesture so gentle, Phainon would almost be sure he imagined it if not for the fiery intensity of Mydei’s eyes, coupled with the deep devotion of a warrior offering his sword to the winged goddess of victory.
Phainon contemplates Mydei's immortality.

“What the fuck.” He whispers to himself. Against his better judgment, he unbuckles his seatbelt and gingerly unlocks his doors, sliding out and taking in the whole scene. Taking a few steps forward, he looks down, and at first, he thinks he’s hallucinating as the ground seems to undulate, but squinting, he can make out little things crawling across the tarmac and then realisation dawns. On the road, baby turtles are shuffling along, barely visible in the quickly dimming evening light, and the man whom he’d at first assumed was having some kind of episode had stopped his car to protect them from the birds.
“You gonna help or are you just gonna stand there and gawk!”
Phainon and Mydei help turtles cross the road, and then they fall in love.

On the way to the baths, Phainon came across Mydei, also heading in the same direction. He was too tired and his throat too scratchy to call out to him, but Mydei noticed him anyway and stopped, allowing Phainon to catch up. Phainon caught up next to Mydei, who was looking Phainon up and down, heavily judging his lackluster appearance.
Mydei’s eyes settled on Phainon’s face, and his expression settled into one of mild concern and bewilderment. “No. Absolutely not,” he said.
