Summary
What if things didn't quite go the way it originally did? What if Shen Wei wasn't as alone as he thought he was?
Shen Wei had lived for over 10,000 years: searching, waiting, learning, and keeping the peace. Throughout that time he lost himself a little bit and was just going through the motions as the Envoy and dedicating his time as a Professor to his students. Especially the one Dixing student he had saved that now insisted Shen Wei was a savior to them all. Every thing was fine until he came across a corpse, a student hanging from a cord, and a familiar face in a window.
A re-write of Guardian with Shen Wei whump and Zhao Yunlan paying closer attention and stubbornly insisting on taking care of Shen Wei. Also a new take on the Hallows, what if they got annoyed at the unsuccessful time loops and decided to help out a bit by giving Shen Wei premonitions? What of all those close calls SID had were only close calls because Shen Wei knew they were going to happen before it actually occurred?

Kneeling was not difficult. Whatever pride he lost, however belittling it felt, it didn’t matter as long as Zhao Yunlan could regain his sight. (The selfish side of Shen Wei had revelled in the way Zhao Yunlan clung to him, easily reached for him to guide him, trusting Shen Wei would be there, would keep Zhao Yunlan safe; but the Good Fight required Zhao Yunlan at full capacity and Zhao Yunlan’s own happiness demanded his eyesight so Shen Wei would not be selfish.)
To go from having Zhao Yunlan’s eyes look at him but not see him to have Zhao Yunlan’s eyes find him and actually seeing him made Shen Wei’s heart flutter. The easy, relieved smile on Zhao Yunlan’s face made his whole body sing.
That moment of joy made it all that much harder to confront Feng Qübing only days later and witness Zhao Yunlan, once again, make the selfless decision.

Pangzi's growled threats weren't taken seriously when they were overlapped with Wu Xie's light laughter when they stopped in a stand-off on opposite sides of the campfire. From the corner of his eye, Wu Xie saw Shen Wei returning to the group from the other corridor that connected to the open foyer. "Xiao Wei! Save me!" he shouted dramatically as he leapt out of the way of another swing of the spoon and toward Shen Wei. His boyfriend gave no protests as Wu Xie used him as a human shield.
"Tianzhen! No fair. Leave the sweet professor out of this. I can't attack you when you're using your innocent partner as protection!" Pangzi stopped and pointed at Wu Xie with the spoon, annoyed.
