The last few hours had been pretty shit for your mood, to be honest. It had been a long time since you’d had to fight to get from point A to B and even longer still that you didn’t really have a choice in the matter. When Ed Skudder first spoke of what sang to him from the bottom of the pit, not everyone who joined him around it fully believed him at first, but enough did, and some believed with all the fanaticism of a fresh convert. Two were even fanatical enough to feed themselves to the Black Goat, imploring him to use them and the child they dragged down with them to create a pure manifestation of his power that could one day lead them, and he did. Said manifestation was that very child- you- born anew as a vessel for dread power with the intent of the cult raising you to the point of apotheosis... and so they did for nearly two decades.
Trouble is, you're not exactly keen on the role you're expected to play, nor the world the cult wants you to immanentize. Fortunately for you, a certain college dropout may just be your escape route if you play your cards right.
