Summary
A month after France and Frank Harkness, Slough House is floundering beneath the weight of grief none of them quite know how to deal with. Fortunately, Catherine has returned, and she’s determined to fix things — starting with River, who’s carrying a secret that’s affecting how he acts both with her and with Lamb — until she and River are kidnapped from Slough House by a group of former slow horses that have a very serious bone to pick with Jackson Lamb.
It will be fine. Catherine knows that Lamb will come for River, and River knows that Lamb will come for Catherine, and until he does they simply have to keep the other alive long enough to be found. But what they’re not expecting is that these former slow horses don’t just want to hurt Lamb; they want to break River, and force Lamb to watch it happen.
But the former slow horses have made a significant error of judgement. Because with every recording they send of River’s torture, the more determined Lamb becomes to rescue his boy, and when he finally does get River and Catherine back he is never going to let them go. It’ll be a long, difficult road to recovery, but they’ll walk it together, all three of them.

It’s four in the morning in New York City, and it's eighty-three degrees out in February. Hotter than the devil’s asshole, Sonny says. There’s no AC in Leon’s shitty tenement of an apartment, which is, quite frankly, a violation of the Geneva Conventions. Not that there’s AC in Sonny and Angie’s apartment. But, not only is there no AC, Leon’s apartment makes every sweltering night ten degrees hotter just by sheer virtue of being actual biblical hell.
Leon and Sonny are crowded into Leon’s queen sized bed, shoved between the kitchen and the couch. There’s a steady drip, drip… drip, drip… drip, drip, coming from one of the faucets somewhere. It must be from someone else’s apartment, because Sonny’s gotten up to angrily jam the heel of his palm against every spigot in the house at least five times tonight.
They’ve both stripped every item of clothing that they were wearing when they got into bed, and changed positions enough times that the entire thing is drenched in heat-sweat. Not the fun kind of heat-sweat. Just the horrible, unsexy four A.M. kind of heat-sweat.AKA - Sonny and Leon share a bath.

Eren scolds himself for the confusing blend of pride, possessiveness, and affection viciously clawing at his heart at the sight of her wearing his scarf again. She closes her eyes as she not-so-subtly inhales his scent.
He wants to kiss her, to show her how much he’ll miss her even when he’s dead. And what an odd thought that is, since he’s certain there isn’t going to be anything waiting for him when he shuts his eyes for the last time.
