When his brothers take things entirely too far, Zoro's life hangs in limbo, and Sanji seeks to save him from both death and the horrid acts that he experienced at his brother's hands.
But earning a broken man's trust takes time.

“You can,” Niji said in a candy sweet, soothing tone, holding eye contact despite the fact he believed slaves unworthy of doing so. Atleast, he was almost certain he was. Zoro had never once seen his or Ichiji's eyes, only those stupid sunglasses they both apparently never bothered to remove. Pure blackness with a reflective glint. It was fittingly soulless. Though, he imagined if he ever saw his eyes, they would be just as empty and vapid. “You will. Maybe this'll teach you to watch that fucking mouth.”

There it is, the husky r, so natural, and the prissy tone, weirdly sensual. Zoro always wonders if Sanji changes languages on purpose, if he uses it as a way to say out loud things he would have difficulty expressing if people understood him. Hiding behind something he was also hiding is very Sanji. It adds to the mystery of his existence.
The cook, however, has enough control to correct himself:

What they don’t expect is the villages Devil fruit user to intervene and blast them with some kind of energy beam.
Positive Pablo the rest of the villagers call him, but how come they were un-harmed? And why can Sanji now hear every nice thing Zoro thinks and feels about him whenever they’re near one another? Every warm emotion, every pleasant passing thought about him- and… compliments.
Sanji just thinks he’s lucky Zoro can’t hear his thoughts, because quite frankly, his head is in shambles over the Swordsman thanks to one of the first throw away thoughts on Zoros behalf and Franky’s fucking filthy comment.
He’s in for one hell of a shock. Hell so is Zoro… especially when someone from his past resurfaces, just to top things off.
And the next island? Well they arrive just in time for the festivities of a pirate long past, his essence so strong his spirit returns every year to stir up mischief and chaos all the while playing matchmaker. Sanji is starting to think the past week has been some sort of elaborate prank, and this is just the icing on the cake.
