Summary
Takumi remembers everything: Every loop, every death, every failure. Time and time again, he's met by failure after failure. Time and time again, it feels like that decision in the Gymnasium will lead to nothing but another bad ending and reset.
Takumi's desire to once more have Eito as an ally and confidant (and definitely nothing romantic ;3) drives him to choose a third option:
TLDR: Takumi locks the fuck in to save his evil boyfriend-not-boyfriend from being branded as a traitor and they are both stupid pining idiots that want each other. Eito deserves a happy ending and I am willing to be the change I want to see in the world.

The ghost looked away shyly. “Ah, well… It’s a little embarrassing to admit, but… I want to be your friend. I’ve never had friends before.”

Only difference is that the Eito from that timeline partially followed him into this one. That Eito has found a newfound conviction to overcome his greatest adversary: his disability.
Takumi knows this Eito might not love him the same as the last did, but is determined to learn and grow with him on his journey to bridge the gap between the humans and the monsters he sees. Through rigorous note taking, observation and planning.

Summary
Eito supposes that what he considers their first is not the same as what Takumi does. Takumi describes it to him, sometimes, in whispered admissions, when he thinks that Eito is not listening or not capable of listening to him as he used to. Takumi’s voice gets caught in his throat, tightly wound, “I never thought that you would betray us, betray me. They all went down. They all died in front of me, like Karua– like Kirifuji had.” He pauses, swallowing the memory. “I killed you, I drove my blade through your heart, right here,” he traces the soft ridges of Eito’s chest over his jacket, fixing his fingertips over his heart as easily as if he was an anatomical model, not a living thing. “You were dead. I killed you.”
Eito is going to kill Takumi, no matter how many times it takes.

Takumi’s confused when, on the eve of day 2, he sees and hears the presence of Eito Aotsuki in his head, but he’s not stupid. Karua made him read enough romance novels to know what this is. Eito is his soulmate, and his presence in his head is there to guide them to bliss together.
