So to sum it up, Stone didn't get paid well - or rather, not better, his boss was an asshole - which he was not afraid to admit - and his tasks were mentally and physically draining. Which concluded that ... well.... Robotnik didn't understand it.
And since he didn't understand it, he blaimed it on something he wasn't good at. The one thing that, apart from his intellect and general superiority, set him apart from the rest of humanity: sexIn which Stone just won't quit his job as Robotnik's assistant and Robotnik starts to believe it's because Stone gets sexually aroused from being treated like crap.

If Shadow can’t have his own happy ending, at least he can give their story one, and maybe that counts for something. He hopes it does.

The people who shut him out. Rejected him. Resented him. Thanks to him, life goes on. Thanks to him, humanity still has a world to live on.
Stone’s world, though, floats outside of earth’s atmosphere, nothing but space dust among the stars. Robotnik may have steered the laser away from the planet, but it still blew Stone’s world into a thousand tiny pieces.
