She frowns at her phone for a good minute. What’s going on? This is the same text Omen sent her yesterday. Same time, she remembers now. Only yesterday she was terrified and creeping around in her own house, wondering if Skulduggery would turn up to kill her, and today everything’s different, it’s okay…It’s just her stupid phone, resent her the text, some blip, something, anything-
She presses on Skulduggery’s name. It brings up their last call. The day she was in the hospital wing, after he’d shot her. She closes her eyes. Opens them. Presses on the messages button. It’s blank. No texts: her invitation asking him round last night, his agreement - gone.
And then she checks the date at the top of the phone.
8th February.*
Or, Valkyrie gets stuck in a time-loop of the day Skulduggery almost shoots her in Coldheart.
