Harry was violent and angry as he paced the room, red tinging his vision. He could taste burnt sugar in the back of his mouth, and the tight grip he had on his roiling magic was slipping. He picked up one of the knocked over bottles by his feet and flung it into a nearby mirror, the shattering of glass the only thing he heard over his heavy breathing. He did it again.
And again.
And again.
Until every fucking reflection was shattered to pieces and he couldn’t see himself. His chest heaved violently in the ruins of everything around him and he crashed to his knees, sobbing. The sounds tore out of him forcefully until he couldn’t breath, couldn’t suck air into his pained lungs, couldn’t do anything.
He never could, could he?
(OR: Harry died in that clearing with Voldemort. In the afterlife, he's greeted by a face he's only ever seen in pictures hidden away in Number 12. Given a choice, Harry is flung back into 1976 and the Marauders 6th year at Hogwarts. I literally missed the major character death warning and went in thinking this would be a fun enemies to lovers with a happy ending. I was wrong, but rightfully so. This is one of the BEST and most GUT WRENCHING hurt!neil fics that I have read.
