Summary
The strangest part about the explosion was not the radiance, whose careless dazzle split the sky in two halves; it was not the shape or the shimmer, with its sickening beauty, nor the terrible smell. It was the lack of sound. The horizon was in a state of renewal, and yet a blink would have taken it all away.
Katara pays a visit to the Fire Nation (on business, she insists), but nothing goes according to plan - it just so happens that the timing of her visit coincides with the annual Fire Lily Festival. As a Water Tribe diplomat, she's expected to take part. But when Zuko's painstaking plans spiral into disaster, Katara's diplomatic proposal is shoved into the backseat, and both leaders are forced to face the truth.
There is a tension between them that cannot be described except by how it refuses to die.
