It had taken some time for them to acknowledge that this was their relationship at its peak. Mutual antagonism made both of them push towards being the very best versions of themselves, leading to rates of growth that so far hadn’t shown any signs of slowing down. He was the villain to Isagi’s hero, the darkness to his light. On the pitch, anyway.

Isagi smiled genuinely, this time. “What the hell... You really are so cool.”

Mission “get Barou to notice that Isagi Yoichi wants him” has made about zero progress since it started ever since Isagi and Nagi had stolen Barou from his other team, but it’s not going to deter her. So far there is no concrete evidence that proved that Barou may actually find her ‘feminine charms’ (as Bachira had put it) intriguing, and no amount of lingering gazes and sometimes uncomfortably strong eye contact could act as real data in her case.
But still- it’s Barou they’re talking about- hot and talented Barou with a body lined with heavy muscle and power that he wore so proudly, and Isagi just can’t help but wipe at the corner of her mouth to hide the drool dripping down her chin at her mouthwatering roommate.

“You’re overheating it,” Barou said, gesturing at the small bubbles forming on the surface of the milk in the saucepan.
“Huh? Ah, damnit—” Isagi immediately removed the pan from the heat, setting it aside before shooting Barou a pointed glance. “Okay, look. You already baked yourself one cake,” he said, moving on to prep the butter in another pan, “so could you just let me handle this one?”
He pointed toward the breakfast table at the far end of the vast kitchen. “Why don’t you sit over there? And please keep your comments to yourself—let me do this on my own, okay?”
Barou gave him a sceptical look, yet after a beat, he scoffed and strode over to the table, taking a seat. “Suit yourself, loser.”
In the minutes that followed, Barou surprised himself with his restraint, somehow managing to refrain from telling Isagi just how much he sucked at this.
But oh, did he suck at it.
