Summary
For the first time in John’s entire life, maybe, he feels safe in his own home, surrounded by other people without the need to pretend that half the paintings strung across the wall weren’t purchased in his name. John doesn’t have to tiptoe around his own living room, constantly paranoid about looking too comfortable, in case anyone floating around who isn’t in the know starts asking questions.
John and Paul are having a party at Cavendish. They're both supposed to be playing host and entertaining, but, as usual, John has other ideas.

Summary
John was having trouble trying to recall how he’d ended up in this position, mind foggy with desire as he felt his half-mast erection press painfully into the zip of his trousers – exhausting himself by doing as Paul had instructed: stay still. It had been nearly half an hour of him sitting there like that – knees apart and torso poised. He knew that a few strokes with his fist would be enough to get him fully hard again, to send him keeling over in euphoria, but it was so much more tempting to see what Paul had up his plaid sleeves.

"I was thinking about what the doctor said. About you being too thin. I thought - since you're splitting from Yoko and all that, maybe you'd like to come back to England with me. Set you up with a doctor over there to help you heal. You haven't been home in ten years. I think it could be good for you."
AU: John survives the shooting but years of unhealthy dieting and not taking care of himself have taken their toll. To keep him from wasting away, Paul brings him back to Cavendish and becomes his personal chef.

Summary
The normal thing to do would be to turn to Paul for a kiss, right? It’s not a big deal, it wouldn’t mean anything. He’d just kissed two of his mates and it meant nothing, so why not just turn to Paul and make a big stupid joke out of the whole thing? Play up the fact they’d come stag. Turn it into a laugh.

Summary
Paul couldn’t help the boyish excitement that bubbled up within him. Even as the years went by, Christmas was still his favourite time of year, the magic of it rooted deep in his soul. Only now, it wasn’t just the holiday itself that thrilled him. It was the idea of sharing it with John, just them two.
—
It was December 1968, and as much as Paul loved Christmas, John never shared his enthusiasm. To John, it was just another day — a tradition he'd never truly been part of after losing his mother and uncle. But this year felt different. Paul could sense the loneliness he tried to bury, and he knew John needed someone now more than ever. If it was the last thing he did, Paul would make sure that this Christmas meant something to John.

Summary
A quick inventory, a mental patting down of his pockets: one, this is his room. Two, the last time he took lysergic was yesterday, so he's definitely got his head on straight right now. Three, Paul is sitting on the edge of John's bed in the lamplight, looking melancholy and red in the face.
