Summary
Izuku's shadow leaps and twists, a dozen reaching hands and curls of hair. In front of him, the fire blazes higher, fiercer, stronger. The heat seeps deep into his marrow.It burns, but, oh, it burns so good.
He is a phoenix in this moment, he is sure, ascending from his own ashes because this sort of heat can only belong to rebirth, to becoming something better, something happier. Something more him.
(Izuku has grown beyond his old self, has learnt how to love himself if only in the ways that his family and friends and mentors have taught him. And he will always be Deku, but hopefully now he can be Deku the Hero instead of the little boy who was too useless for anyone to love or like.
So he will burn the things that have burdened him, and he will let himself breathe.)Series
