Mike reels back like he’s been slapped. “You really think that I wouldn’t have cared if it was from you?” he asks, voice low, expression torn open. It’s not fair for him to look like Will is breaking his heart in two, not when Mike started it a long fucking time ago.
“It was obvious you wouldn’t have,” Will snarls. Hating himself for it.
Mike swallows hard, throat bobbing. His hands are still shaking; hell, all of him is shaking. “Then clearly you don’t know me at all anymore.”
“Yeah, I guess I don’t.”

In which Mike finds out the truth about the painting, Will accuses him of not caring about him anymore, and Mike proves to Will just how much he does care with a bundle of letters all signed with love. Summary
El’s mouth twists to one side, the way it does when she’s about to deliver bad news. Mike’s gut sinks further. “Will’s bringing Andy home for the holidays to meet everyone.”
Logically, there is only one possible context behind all of this, but that does not mean Mike is willing to believe it before he has to. “Right,” he says, feeling vaguely on the verge of hyperventilating, “and- El, who the fuck is Andy?”
At this, El’s expression of thinly veiled pity shifts into proper shock, her eyes going wide and round. “Oh,” she says, “oh, dear.”
Mike comes home from his first semester at college with a plan: to make Will Byers his boyfriend. Unfortunately, it appears someone else has already beaten him to it.

Dustin had gotten frankly a bit too excited with the whole prospect of Mike potentially (definitely) liking someone, and he’d poked and prodded until Mike had, very reluctantly, admitted that he had a big, fat, embarrassing crush on one William Byers.
And thus, The List was born, as Mike not-so-affectionately refers to it in his head. Its official title, “Mike Wheeler’s Ultimate Plan to Getting an Epic Independence Day Date with Will Byers”, was a bit too much to envision, and plus it’s a stupid name anyway. He doesn’t particularly think anything about the plan is ‘ultimate’ or ‘epic’, but the potential ‘date with Will Byers’ was enough of an incentive to get Mike to agree.
Dustin makes a list. Mike, very reluctantly, follows it.

Will guesses the shock must be obvious enough on his face that Mike feels he has to explain himself.
“So, you know, like - when you find someone you actually want to kiss, you'll know what it's like and you won't have to be as scared.” Mike’s eyes are frantic again and he’s slowly retracting the hand anchoring Will to the bed.
With panic coursing through his body, desperate not to screw his chance up, he catches Mike’s retreating hand with his own. Mike stares at their interlaced fingers, his eyebrows disappearing behind his bangs in shock.
”I-,” Will gets cut off. Mike was never really the patient one.
“You can just pretend I’m a girl, if you want.” His voice comes out strangled, nervous.

It’s been winter for an awful long time.
Summer left too quick, the warm sun sinking below the horizon in a brilliant show of orange and yellow and red and pink, and so far, no one’s seen it since.
Now, snowflakes gray as ash drift from the dark, cloud-covered sky. The air is crisp and biting, and the wind is even worse, howling outside like something tortured, begging to get in. They all know better than to let it.
Basically, an Orpheus and Eurydice/Hadestown-inspired Byler fic, in which Mike is the equivalent of Orpheus and Will Eurydice!

Another crackle, and Lucas spoke up again “Like Max?” His voice was shaky and it sounded hesitant.

Now Mike sounds more sure when he speaks. “Meeting. At my house. Now. Over.”
When Mike and Will look at eachother again, there is an intense foreboding settling over them.
“We better wake up Jonathan and Nancy.”

Being the social media and public relations manager, she had been the first to know about Steve’s album. After listening to the song he released alongside the announcement, it was obvious that the whole thing was about his relationship (or lack thereof) with Eddie.
“Oh God, did you read that article? Erica won’t stop texting me about it,” Mike complained, glaring at his phone as it pinged for at least the fortieth time. However, he turned his glare to Eddie as soon as he sauntered into the room and sat down across from Chrissy.
Before either of them could utter a single syllable, Chrissy pulled out a packet of paper. The pages contained three minutes and 28 seconds worth of lyrics.

Her tone leaves no room for debate, and Eddie blinks back at her owlishly. He's so shocked he doesn't even register the noise Steve makes beside him, like he's been elbowed in the gut by some unseen force. Eleven’s nose doesn’t bleed, so he’s probably just being dramatic, anyway. "I will?" Eddie asks, and then, "Who's 'us'?"
Eddie needs somewhere to stay. Steve has a lot of feelings about it.

Will loved this. He loved hearing Mike swear his undying love to him and then promptly make-out.
"CUT! Well done, guys!" a man yelled.
Too bad it was all fake and part of an act. Too bad.
