Summary
he knows anger, when he feels it. anger is comfortable, all-encompassing - when the unfamiliar feeling in his chest gets too much for him to bear, he finds the fastest way to turn it into anger, and trusts that his siblings will read the truth in the lines of his face, in the morse code of blood speckled across his knuckles.
this feeling, however, never stays in his chest. it burns and boils and slams down into his stomach, all heavy anvils and hard edges, low growls and white-hot terror, tense as a bow string. it takes his heart down with it - and his lungs, after that - and once his chest is hollow, it reaches up and claws through his throat instead, and he doesn't realise he's snarling until that's empty too.
(or: raphael has pathological demand avoidance - even the smallest and most reasonable of requests feels like a threat to his life.)
